James "Jim" Donald Smith

James Donald Smith, age 85, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015. James was born to the late Melvin and Irene (Bishop) Smith on November 13, 1929. On May 8, 1948, Jim was united in marriage to Martha "Mardie" Evers.

Jim lived a very active life starting his own business, Seal Coat Applicators, at the age of 25. He owned that business for 40 years. He loved to travel south in his motorhome with his wife where they could relish in the warm air. In the colder seasons, you could always find him riding a snowmobile. He was a true Packer fan always making sure to never miss a game. He was very handy, loved to tinker and invent new things. Jim found great joy in taking care of his yard to always make sure it was in tip-top shape. One of the best qualities found in Jim, was his love of his family. He would never turn away a chance to spend quality time with the ones he loved.

Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mardie; his children: Sandee (Mike Harness) and their children Tina Trader, Tricia Harness, Tawny (Ryan) Orwig, Tiffany Harness, Erin (Brian) Kunath, and Brandon (Lisa) Harness; Dan (Cindy) Smith and their children Jenna (Will) Torgeson and Dan Smith; Chris (John) Michels and their child Mikey (Sarah) Perket; the children of the late Jimmer: Ashley, Allie, and Josie; Todd (Doreen) Smith and their children Amanda, Andrea (Ryan) Spencer, and T.J. (fiancé Brooke); Tracie (Greg) Lider and their children Hailey and Hannah; 23 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Gene Smith and Butch Smith; a sister Susan (Jim) Roesler; brother-in-law Norm Colson; Jim will also be missed dearly by the loving family of Mardie, his wife. Jim is preceded in death by both of his parents; children Jimmer (Gale) Smith and baby Peter; sisters Hazel (Dick) Rometti and Barbara Colson; sisters-in-law Carol Smith and Pat Smith.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH,2331 East Lourdes Drive, with father Don Zuleger officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com
