Condolences to the Somerville family! Mr. Somerville made math fun. I learned Algebra from him, and with his help, got to take Geometry as a freshman. One of the few great teachers I had the privilege of having at MGMS. I wish my kids could have known him. :)

So sorry to hear about Mr. Somerville. He really could teach any one algebra. I feel fortunate to have learned from him. My thoughts go out to Mrs. Somerville and his family.

Jim's service was so nice and a wonderful message of hope ! HOME SAFE ! Forever We are so eternally Thankful that we enjoyed the coaching and teaching and mentoring from Jim and Maggie as our ambassadors at Bookcliff JR High . They made each one of us feel special and important and that our lives mattered to them. Often Following us for many years as compassionate friends by coming to our weddings and loved ones funerals. My Sympathies to Maggie (Mrs. Somerville) Very sad to hear this . My brother Danny Raff had them at Bookcliff Junior High when it first opened up. I remember Jim and Maggie both. I may have only had him for one class but I had Maggie in more classes like social studies. They were 2 of my favorite teachers at Bookcliff in the late 70s, early 80s. They both taught me not only about school subjects, but often talked to them about life issues too. RIP Mr Somerville

James Somerville was a good teacher and mentor. He helped me get ahead by studying geometry as a freshman. I was able to pass a challenge exam and start high school with a credit. He was always interested in my progress later. One of the first great math teachers I was fortunate to have. One of the reasons I earned a PhD in mathematics

Thank you for being a great influence in my life. I loved Math and you encouraged me to stretch myself to meet your expectations. You were a model of a fine human being and taught many of to be the same.

What a great guy!!! I remember when Miss Williams came to Bookcliiff and the sparks flew! I was fortunate to be there through the courting and the wedding. What a great couple! Many, many condolences to Mrs. Somerville and the family.

You never know how many people you touch in life. But Mr. Somerville will not be forgotten. He touched so many, including me, in one way or another. God speed and much love and prayers for the family.

Was a great teacher, always enjoyed his classes. He was my teacher in the 70s at Bookcliff Jr High.

Jim was a great teacher, coach and friend. I was lucky to have had him as a positive influence my life!!

Mr. Somerville was a wonderful teacher, coach, mentor and always led by example. He was kind and carrying and was a class act. He made school fun and always helped the underdog. May all the wonderful memories of him, help ease the pain of his loss. May God comfort hits family.

As you know, Jimmy was my daughters favorite teacher of all times. The two of you made Bookcliff Middle School. He will never be forgotten! May the prayers of your loved ones bring peace.
