Condolences to the Somerville family! Mr. Somerville made math fun. I learned Algebra from him, and with his help, got to take Geometry as a freshman. One of the few great teachers I had the privilege of having at MGMS. I wish my kids could have known him. :)

My Sympathies to Maggie (Mrs. Somerville) Very sad to hear this . My brother Danny Raff had them at Bookcliff Junior High when it first opened up. I remember Jim and Maggie both. I may have only had him for one class but I had Maggie in more classes like social studies. They were 2 of my favorite teachers at Bookcliff in the late 70s, early 80s. They both taught me not only about school subjects, but often talked to them about life issues too. RIP Mr Somerville

James Somerville was a good teacher and mentor. He helped me get ahead by studying geometry as a freshman. I was able to pass a challenge exam and start high school with a credit. He was always interested in my progress later. One of the first great math teachers I was fortunate to have. One of the reasons I earned a PhD in mathematics
