James Clayton Sowell, 55, of rural Bluejacket, Okla., passed away May 9th, 2022, at St. Francis Health System in Tulsa, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 3rd, 1967, in Memphis, Tenn. to James William Sowell and Janice Sue (DeGrant) Sowell. He was a 1985 graduate of Fairbury High School in Fairbury, Nebraska. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy. He was a graduate of W.T.I. where he obtained his journeyman in heat and air service and repair.
On April 9th, 2010, he took the former Sandy Jo Oakley as his bride. They made their home in rural Bluejacket.
He loved being outdoors where he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and an uncle, John Sowell.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of the home; his father and stepmother, James and Donna Sowell of Lincoln, NB; three children, David James Sowell of Tulsa, Mikalah Sowell of Pryor, and Falynn Sowell of Pryor; six siblings, Angela Campbell, Maria Owens, Talessa Cheatham, Mike Smith, Debra Kelly, and Shelly Watson; four grandchildren, Ellie, Kaiman, Jaxon, and Hudson; and Bo, his service dog and faithful companion.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, May 12th, at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13th, at the Bluejacket Cemetery.

I didnt know you very long James. But you and Sandy became friends after 2nd time i worked for you.. I wish i had of worked for you longer.. You will be missed you were one of the best members i worked for.. RIP until we all meet again.. Love ya both
