James Steele Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 2 to Nov. 5, 2011.
Jim Steele, age 78 of Yuma, Arizona went into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2011. He was born on April 9, 1933 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Jim proudly became a U.S. citizen 40 years ago. While in Calgary he did car racing. Jim and Margaret moved from Calgary to Washington State, where he enjoyed flying his airplanes and boating. While in Washington, he was a private pilot of his own plane.

He retired from the Seattle School District then they moved to Yuma Arizona. He lived a very full life. He was a fireman, raced cars, loved boating, and riding his motorcycle. Jim could fix anything and was loved by all who knew him. We will miss his intelligence, wit, sense of humor and love for his family and friends.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Margaret, of 53 years; daughters, Linda (Larry) Mattson and Carol Mayfield; grandchildren, Brianne (Brennen) Mckay, Brian, Christopher Mattson; Ashley and Nygel Mayfield.

I remember the Steele's taking care of us when myself and my siblings were young. Mr. and Mrs. Steele were like our second set of parents...taking very good care of us. Mr. Steele will be missed by so many. Our deepest thoughts are with you during this difficult time. We pray for all of you and know that the Lord will see you all through this. Debbi Miller, Ruth Miller and family.

Dad,

No words can ever express the grief and loss I feel. This was not suppose to happen. I will always hold you close forever within my soul. In my head I hold an image of you with such light and joy in your face when you had your plane at Harvey Field in Snohomish Washington. You had a little clubhouse for the "boys" and I remember you looked like a kid with his favorite toy.

Your loving daughter, Linda
