James Leon "Jim" Sweet

James Leon "Jim" Sweet, 75, passed away on August 5, 2024, in Berlin, Vermont. Born on August 7, 1948, in Vermont, Jim was a spirited and jovial individual, cherished for his carefree and fun-loving nature, especially by his children and grandchildren.

Jim proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, dedicating his efforts to his country in a time of need. After his military service, he built a career as a skilled sheet rocker, a trade he excelled in and took great pride in.

Beyond his professional life, Jim had a passion for riding his Harley, creating art, and crafting various projects, which brought joy not only to him but also to those around him. His creative spirit was evident in everything he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn (Tully) Sweet of Waterbury Center, Vermont; his children, Chrispen Preus and her husband Joe of Barre, Vermont, and Jamie Rousseau and his wife Sadie of Benton Falls, Maine. Jim's joyous legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jared, Jamie, Jennifer Preus of Barre, Vermont, and Azalea, Vinnie, Orrin Rousseau of Benton Falls, Maine. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Burkhart of Seattle, Washington, and his sister-in-law, Marcia Sweet of Duxbury, Vermont. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Monat Sweet and Rheagene (Bunny) Campbell Sweet, as well as his brother, Bernard Sweet Sr.

A remembrance service will be held at St Leo's hall 109 south Main Street Waterbury village Sunday August 18th @ 12 pm to 2pm where friends and family can gather to honor Jim's memory. Private burial 3pm @ philllips-duxbury hill cemetery for immediate family only .Contributions in Jim's memory can be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, an organization close to his heart.

Perkins Funeral Parlor in Waterbury, Vermont, is assisting the family during this time. Jim's life was a testament to the love and care he had for his family and community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
