James Taylor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 26, 2024.
James Harrison Taylor, III, affectionately known as "Jimmy," passed away on July 26, 2020, in Roosevelt, New York, at the age of 84. He was born on March 30, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Marion (Bringier) Taylor and James Harrison Taylor, Jr.

Jimmy grew up surrounded by his large and loving family and received his education in Washington, D.C. Following his service in the United States Air Force, he embarked on a career as an entrepreneur. He founded his own Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) company in New York, where he made his home with his family.

A man of many talents, Jimmy was a gifted piano player and singer. His passion for music led him to become a member of The Clovers, a renowned American rhythm and blues doo-wop group of the 1950s based out of Washington, D.C. Among his musical accomplishments was the recording of a beautiful song titled "After," which remains a testament to his artistry.

Jimmy was the eldest of nine siblings. He is survived by one brother and five sisters: Marion, Gabrielle, Renee, Lloyd, Faye, and Monique. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Andree; and his brother David.

He leaves behind a legacy through his children: Lynette, Kevin, James IV, Sanjulo, Dara, and Michael; as well as through his grandchildren: Jessica, Kevin Jr., Daine, Sanjulo Jr., Grace, Elijah, Gabriel, David, and Matthew. Jimmy's memory will also live on in the hearts of his great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jimmy lived a life filled with love for God, family, and music. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
