Mr. James Earl "Shack" Timmons, Jr. FLORENCE - Funeral service for Mr. James Earl "Shack" Timmons, Jr. will be conducted 2PM Sunday, November 6, 2011 at J.O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 S. Johns St., Florence. Interment will be 9AM Monday, November 7, 2011 at Florence National Cemetery directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC. James Earl affectionately known as "Shack", a son of the late James Earl "Leon" and Berlena McBride Timmons was born on February 24, 1936 in Florence, SC. He died on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Carolinas Hospital System after an extended illness. James Earl was a 1956 graduate of Wilson High School and received his B.S. Degree from Morgan State College, Baltimore, MD. He also attended Morris College, Sumter, SC where he was certified in Elementary Education and Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. James Earl was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the United Hunting Club. James Earl took pride in raising blue ticks dogs. He was a member of Cumberland U.M. Church. James Earl was employed with S.C. Public School System, Project "T" Square, Federal Government, Housing Specialist, Consultant and Community Organizer. Survivors include his significant other, Shelley Adams, six children, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friend.
