James William Toon

HENDERSON -- A celebration for James William (J.W.) Toon, 83, of Henderson, is scheduled for Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Henderson, with Bro. Jere Wilson officiating. Services will be under the direction of Crawford-Crim-Bryan Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Mr. Toon was born in Cooper, TX, August 7, 1921, in Delta County. His parents, Lee and Bernice Toon; and brothers, Charles Toon and Dennis Toon, preceded him in death. After serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned to Cooper, TX, and began farming. In 1954, he went to work for the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission. He moved to Henderson in 1957, and worked for the TABC for 31 years. Mr. Toon was a veteran and master mason. He was a faithful member of the Radio Bible Class and First Baptist Church for 32 years. Mr. Toon's family was one of the most important things in his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his personal warmth and friendliness. He loved the simple things of life. His loving wife, Dosia Toon, of 63 years, survives him. His children are Troy Toon and wife, LaNell, of Henderson, Mike Toon and wife, Delores, of Lake Cherokee, Jackie Toon and wife, Judy, of Henderson, Steve Toon and wife, Kathryn, of Kilgore, and daughter, Dena Allen and husband, Jeff, of Henderson. He has 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition, a sister, Doris Lee Alley; and a brother, Jerry Toon, survive him. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday night, July 25, 2005, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Scott Toon, David Toon, Clint Toon, Trent Toon, Greg Toon, Malcolm Graham, Brad Allen, and Chad Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Toon's special friends at Herschel's coffee club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, Rusk Co. Division, P.O.
