James "Jim" Michael Vogt, age 69, of Englewood, Florida, went to be with his Lord Thursday morning, July 21, 2018 surrounded by his family at home. Born July 21, 1949, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, James is now in heaven with his beloved son, James Michael Vogt Jr. He is survived by his wife Betty-Anne Vogt of 51 years, sons Michael Vogt and Jeffrey Vogt, daughter Angelique Furtney, brother Richard Vogt, sister Sue Vogt Scheffler and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. James was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
James was a New Jersey State Trooper for 27 years, and retired in 1998 as a detective sergeant first class. Following his departure from the NJ State Police, James was employed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a Investigator/Special Agent.
His strength, character and humor until his last days will be his legacy to many. We love you dearly and will miss you forever. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Bay Point Church, 208 Palm Ave, Nokomis, FL 34275.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in James' name are suggested to Tidewell Hospice at www.tidewellhospice.org or ASPCA at www.aspca.org.

Sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I just found out about it today. My thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family at this sad time. I worked with Jim at the Edgewater Park barracks and at the State Capitol Complex. He was a good trooper. RIP Jim.

I lived next door to his grandmother sophie pusnauskas in pgh pa. he was 10 yrs older than me, and really never talked, but i was real good friends with cheryl richie and susan. i wish i could see them and talk to them. my email is [email protected] . i am sorry for your loss. try to have them write me please

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Vogt Family. I had the good fortune of working with Jim at Red Lion Station. By far one of the best detectives I ever worked with. One of the memories I have of Jim was when several of us from the station went to his horse farm in Shamong, NJ and helped him bale hay. Jim was so thankful and said he had never seen hay baled so quickly in his life. Rest in peace Jim and may God bless your family with grace during this difficult time. M3556
