WELCH JAMES E.
Passed peacefully in his sleep, Saturday, February 6, 2016, in Venice, FL, where he was enjoying retirement. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert and Anna Welch of Castle Shannon, PA and survived by his loving and proud brothers and sisters, Robert and the late Rita Welch of Kennett Square, PA, Charles and Rose Welch of Humble, TX, Anne Welch of Venice, FL, John Welch and Thom Barron of Sarasota, FL, Thomas and Tonia Welch of Georgetown, DE, Richard and Jeanne Welch of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Martha and David Macsurak of Upper St. Clair, PA; 31 nieces and nephews; 43 great-nieces and nephews; and 12 great-great- nieces and nephews. Jim received a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University and a Masters degree in Geomorphology from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Jim traveled the world extensively while pursuing his career as a geologist on oil rigs in the Arabian Sea. He had retired from a 25 plus year career with the United States Geological Survey in Harrisburg, PA. Mass and burial will be held at St. Anne Church in Castle Shannon on a date to be determined. If desired, family suggests contributions to Bethesda Mission, 818 N. 20th St., Harrisburg, PA where Jim had volunteered.
