James Wesson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 13, 2010.
James Leland Wesson III, age 45, died Feb. 12, after an extended illness. After graduation from Deshler High School, Mr. Wesson attended UNA, where he pledged Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

Mr. Wesson began his career in sales with Johnstone Supply in Jacksonville, Fla. He returned to Alabama in the 1990s in a management position with Johnstone, working in several locations across the state. In recent years, he worked for the government contacting company, Hoyt Harris.

Mr. Wesson was a member of First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Wesson's love of hunting and fishing led to his passion for arrowhead collecting.

Before his death, Mr. Wesson donated his arrowhead collection to an Indian museum. Several of his arrowheads have been pictured in noted arrowhead publications.

Mr. Wesson is survived by his son, William Carter Wesson; his parents, Jim Wesson Jr. and Karen Blackburn Wesson; his brother, Michael Wesson; and his grandmother, Virginia Ware Blackburn.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Lucille Wesson, of Florence, and Dr. W.H. Blackburn, of Camden, Tenn.

The family will receive friends at the home of Jim's parents until 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any Tuscumbia City School library or the Helen Keller Library.

Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is assisting the family.

Karen and Jim, I am so very sorry to hear about Jim's death. I just found out. I did not even know he was sick. You were there for me and I would have been there for you. I feel you pain. My advice, as one who has been there, just get through life, one minute at a time.
The pain never goes away......it just gets easier to cope with.
I love you and your family so much. Sandra U. Beal
