WYATT, Syd Mr. James Sydney Wyatt of High River, passed away at the Oilfields Hospital, Black Diamond, on November 11, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Syd will be dearly missed by his wife Donna, children, Jane (Garth) Clegg of High River, Jim (Sharon) of Beaverlodge and Tim (Terri) of High River, thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Syd is also remembered by his siblings Pat (Bill) Schielke of High River, Bud and Brenda and aunt Eileen Coutts of Moose Jaw, SK, as well as numerous other relations. He was predeceased by his father James in 1980, brother Bill in 1985, mother Irene in 1998. A Memorial Service will be held at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 301 Macleod Trail, High River, on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., Mrs. Shirley Collard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada, Box 940, Claresholm, AB. T0L 0T0. Hi Donna,
Just had you on the phone and learned about Syd's death. I am in France, "French from France" as you say in Canada. Syd and you welcomed me so warmly when my heart was broken. I was going through Canada on horseback and you gave me all the trust and love I would have never hope at this time of my life. Syd and you lent me two of your horses to keep on going with my journey. I don't know if I'll ever be so grateful to humankind... Thanks to you two I successfully ended my trip across Canada. You came to pick up the horses after that at the Top of the World Ranch in B.C. and returning to France I wrote a book, (unfortunately not translated in English)relating my whole journey and giving a big part of it to both of you, who had welcomed me as if I was a real member of your family. Thank you again to both of you. You are in my heart for ever.

I spoke with Donna regarding Syd she asked me if I had ran into any of the old group friends and then looked and found this online book and wondered if I could find Helmut Kemna and Schari Engel if anyone knows I would appreciate the help as Donna would like to see her as well.

Our condolences to the whole family. We will miss Syd as we have lost a true friend . I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to met such a wonderful person. I met Syd back in 1983 when I was traveling cross Canada.With no money left, he and his family supported me. You are in our thoughts and prayers in your time of grief.

I always enjoyed Syd's wonderful collection of stories and his wry sense of humour. Syd was one in million. Appies everywhere will be mourning the loss of one of their most dedicated supporters and champions. He leaves a big hole in the fabric of Alberta life.
