Jim Was one of a kind ,a great guy

who was a friend to all, and a great outdoorsman. We enjoyed many hunts together and he loved that bird dog.

I think Ron Gagliardis letter (Long

Run Sportsman Club) said it all, thanks

Ron.

Jim was of the greatest generation

and his many friends will miss him.

Long Run Sportsmen Club has lost a piece of our collective heart. Our #1 Member, Jim Zaring, died Sunday morning, April 3 at the age of 91.

It has been almost 31 years to the day since Jim and four of his friends founded Long Run Sportsmen Club. From that moment forward, today’s members and all of those who have participated as members or guests in any of the club’s activities have benefited from Jim’s vision - whether taking part in one of the canoe races held on Floyd’s Fork (which for many still is one of Long Run Sportsmen Club’s most remembered and noted activities) or one of the many fishing trips the club as taken over the years to the Great Lakes, Canada, Dale Hollow or a favored local pond or stream. Jim’s imprint can be found on every aspect of our club and his spirit and determination have been the heart and soul that has fueled Long Run Sportsmen Club. If there has ever been one person who truly personified this club, it was Jim.

A lifelong sportsman, Jim was an avid outdoorsman who was happiest sharing this passion with his loving wife, Catherine, who passed away this past year and two daughters, Kay (Corky) and Sharon. Jim and Catherine were always a part of every club activity and their passing creates a void that will be long felt and never fully filled.

Jim was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for over 65 years. Members of Long Run Sportsmen Club have long enjoyed the hospitality of Pleasant Grove thanks to Jim’s patronage. In keeping with the family’s wishes, it seems fitting and proper that the club memorialize Jim with a gift to the church. This memorial gift will be given in the name of every person who is now or has ever been a part of our organization.

Jim is now reunited with Catherine and together they, with all of his many friends and fellow club members who preceded Jim, greeted him upon his entry to Heaven, are today probably planning their next adventure to one of those bass-filled heavenly waters reserved for the saints. Good fishing Jim and keep your powder dry.
