Jan ROSS-MUNRO

Jan was my inspiration to me - and likely countless others - as a teacher at Sotheby's education, London, and guided me into a serious love for the visual arts which I ended up pursuing as a career. I will be forever grateful to her. She was a graceful Lady, beautiful and kind, with a wonderful smile and relaxed approach to education which made learning easy and not stuffy. She was always receptive to her students making the occasional joke, and I think she enjoyed the added colour that a little humor brought to her museum tours from her students and audience. I believe she lived at Chelsea Walk, and years after I left Sotheby's education I bumped into her in London when I was visiting, and she invited me to visit her with her husband there. During this visit I was happy that I had the opportunity to share with her that my time at Sotheby's education under her stewardship was indeed the happiest time of my life up until that moment. She played a significant role in making this so, and for this I will always thank her.

Many memories of holidays in Normandy and Verbier (where Jan broke a rib), of dinners in London, and laughing together en famille. Although the years have lenghthened the the gaps between meetings, our memories live on. Take care Colin.
