Sister Jane Fell was born to Adolph and Genevieve (Byers) Fell who were farmers in Council Bluffs. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, then Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Council Bluffs; she obtained her BSN from Duchesne College of the Sacred Heart in Omaha, NE. She entered Medical Mission Sisters in Philadelphia, PA in 1956.
Sr. Jane served as a nurse and instructor in Philadelphia, North and South Carolina, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uganda and Ghana. She became a licensed nurse practitioner in 1978, published her memoirs, "At Home in Many Worlds," in 1999 and in her elder years volunteered in the MMS Thrift Shop in Philadelphia.
Sister Jane is survived by 2 brothers, Leo Fell of Sun City, FL, Robert (Linda) Fell of Omaha, NE and sister-in-law Dee Fell of Omaha, NE. Funeral Mass: Thursday October 13th, at 10:45 am. in Philadelphia, PA. Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86241147717. www.medicalmissionsisters.org
