Jane Elizabeth Holmes

Jane Elizabeth Holmes Jane Elizabeth Holmes 73, Speedway, passed away Thursday October 29, 2009. She was born November 22, 1935 in Brazil, Indiana the daughter of Oliver and Mary Coltharp. Mrs. Holmes was a graduate of Van Buren High School in Clay County, Indiana and was a buyer for Community Hospital East for 37 years. She was a member Speedway United Methodist Church, American Legion Unit 500 Ladies Auxiliary, Past Department President Indiana State American Legion Auxiliary, was active in Hoosier Girls State and was a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. Mrs. Holmes served on the governor's advisory council for the Indiana Soldier's and Sailor's Children's Home in Knightstown and received the Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Frank O'Bannon. The family extends it's gratitude to the staff of Yellow Rose Hospice of Methodist Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Jim Holmes; daughter, Kathy Jean Holmes; sister, Barbara (Sherman) Gardner; brother, Jacob Michael (Cindy) Coltharp; brother in law, John (Leslie) Holmes; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday November 4, 2009 at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel with visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday November 3, 2009. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
