ROESCH
JANE HOLT
On Thursday, May 3, 2018. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife. Born in McAlester, OK, the youngest of nine children of Grover and Viola Holt, Jane spent her early years in Oklahoma, then California, and finally Pittsburgh after she married the love of her life, William R. Roesch, the former Chief Executive Officer of United States Steel. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Susan Segal; cherished grandsons, Michael (Sherry), Chris (Stephanie); granddaughter, Racquel (Lawrence); and five great- grandchildren, Angela, C.J., Mila, Susie, and Quintin; and beloved sister, Bert. Following Bill's tragic death from cancer in 1983, Jane continued to travel extensively with friends and created the unique and very successful fine arts business with Betty as her assistant, known as Merryvale Antiques in Shadyside. Jane was dedicated to the Pittsburgh community and Western Pennsylvania and significantly impacted the area's success through her service and guidance on the boards of the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, the Westmoreland Museum of Art, and the Allegheny Foundation. Her time and financial support were invaluable to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Carnegie Museum of Art and its Women's Committee, the Pittsburgh Public Theatre, the Pittsburgh Opera, the Children's Home of Pittsburgh, Greater Pittsburgh Literacy, Little Sisters of the Poor, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, the Hillman Cancer Center, and the Frick Art and Historical Center. Jane was also recognized for her donation of a significant steel sculpture by Richard Serra in 1992 to the Carnegie Museum of Art in memory of her husband, Bill. She was a member of the Rolling Rock Club, the Pittsburgh Golf Club, and the Duquesne Club. Above all, Jane will be remembered for her love of family, and as a kind, giving, loyal, and supportive friend. Graveside Services at St. Michael's of the Valley Cemetery in Ligonier were private and a Memorial Service and celebration of Jane's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by JOHN A. Dear Susan:

My dear late mother and i were frequent visitors to her lovely antique shop in ShadySide. We spent many Saturdays discussing the wonders and beauty of all kinds of antiques.
She was a lovely, gracious lady.
My deepest sympathies.

Dear Susan, Michael, Christopher & Racquel,

I wanted to express my deepest regrets in hearing about your mother/grandmother's passing. I will always remember her kindness to me while I was in college helping out with all of you. I have thought about all of you many times over the years and fondly remember how she would be sure to send me back to my dorm at Chatham with dinner after helping you with your homework. I am grateful to have known her and hope that you will feel some comfort in this difficult time knowing that your mother/grandmother is in my thoughts and prayers.
