Jane Roosen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2024.
Mesa - Mona (Jane) Roosen, 79, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away at Beehive Homes in Gilbert on September 30, 2024. After a long battle with dementia, Jane had expressed complete peace with it being her time. She was an amazing woman and will be greatly missed.

Jane was born in February of 1945, in Portage, Wisconsin to parents Wayne and Louisa Bryan, joining her older brother Wayne. She later attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967, with a major focus on social work. She started as a social worker for Oneida County in Wisconsin, where she worked until 1977, then decided to move to Mesa, Arizona. She continued her social work in Mesa, with a focus on helping children find proper care and homes, until she retired from social work in 1981. She would spend the rest of her working years at B. Dalton bookstore which, as a voracious reader herself, she greatly enjoyed. She also spent many years volunteering at the Arizona Museum of Natural History and the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert. She would marry her husband, Harry Roosen, in October of 1994 and spend 30 wonderful years together before his and her passing in 2024.

Jane was a loving wife, stepmother, great stepmother, sister-in-law and friend. She was extremely passionate about helping others and was always involved in some sort of service. Whether it be her career choice itself, the numerous hours she spent volunteering, the multiple charities she donated to regularly, the compassionate advice for her stepchildren, the actions of love for her husband, or the countless friends she helped throughout her years in AA - it was clear Jane truly cared. She was a person who truly lived with integrity in all aspects of her life and was a wonderful example. She also had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

In her spare time Jane loved to go for walks, listen to the Kingston Trio, play music with her guitar, bird watch, study history on the Civil War, go camping, read, play mini golf and spend time with friends/family. She also loved cats, dinosaurs and was a huge Green Bay Packer fan. In addition, Jane had been actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous for many years, having 35 years of sobriety when she passed.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Louisa Bryan, brother Wayne Bryan and husband Harry Roosen. She is survived by stepchildren Alan Roosen and Gloria McClurkan, step-grandson Corey McClurkan, step-great-grandchildren Jensen and Evie McClurkan, sister-in-law Pat Bryan and numerous friends.

A private Celebration of Life event will be held in the near future, with details made available in the coming weeks.
