Jane Upton Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Jun. 10, 2017.
Jane Upton 1950-2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful, loving, and somewhat quirky sister, aunt/great aunt. Jane was born and raised in Vancouver and attended University Hill and later went on to receive a psychology degree from UBC. Jane's career was spent at Telus where she was known as the "go to person" by many of her life long Telus family. Jane loved spending summers at Point Roberts and attending social events where she would always be relied on to "bring the buns." Jane was the family historian, resident techie, paint specialist and on-line shopping advisor. For her sixty-fifth birthday she fulfilled her dream to spend six weeks in Italy with her family. Jane spent the last six months of her life surrounded by family and close friends. She will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, her great niece, three sisters, friends and all those fortunate enough to cross her path. The family would like to thank the staff and the Palliative Care unit at VGH and the Vancouver Hospice Society for the extraordinary kindness and care Jane received throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Vancouver Hospice Society at 4615 Granville St. Vancouver.

Jane was a very helpful and positive colleague, who would always have time to provide assistance or a casual chat. Her kindness and thoughtfulness were good reminders of the importance of compassion, especially when things got busy. I will carry with me the memories of her warm smile and conversations we had. Have comfort that Jane had a similar impact on many!

With great sadness I read about the loss of Jane Upton. There is tragedy in all our lives but the loss of Jane will be hard to overcome. Jane was joyous, clever, fun-loving and a classic. Jane was a phenomenal Scrabble player a fabulous interior designer at heart. Thank you Jane for being loyal friend when other lacked the coviction and grace.
With fondness I remember that there was no place for a clock in Jane's world, I recall the countless hours I spent waiting for her. It was amusing to know that as I was about to give up I would suddenly see a flash of strawberry blond hair and out from the crowd
Jane would burst with an entertaining excuse for her tardiness. Jane was always worth the wait I will miss you my friend.
Condolences to her sister's Leslie, Elizabeth, Rowan, and Kim and the rest of her family.

Dear Upton Clan,
Jane's courage, graciousness and concern for those around her during her last months will forever be in my heart . What a woman.
Surrounded by deep love for and by her family, supported by friends, she left this earth knowing she was deeply loved.
She left a tender mark on all of us.
Although my heart is broken , I will always think of Jane with funny and gentle thoughts.I am so proud to have been her friend. You are an incredible family .
I know Jane is all around you.
Keep her memory alive for the next generations with her great stories .
( but connect the dots!)
She would have liked that.
Love you all .
