Janet Claire Cork

Janet Claire Cork, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Born on May 16, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Janet was the eldest of two children of Rose and Angelo Naples. She graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago and was a proud member of the Royal Airs Drum and Bugle Corps for many years. Janet later helped run Wheaton Supply Drywall Company alongside her beloved husband, Charles Cork.

Jan had a deep love for reading and found great joy in spending time with her friends, family, and many grandchildren. Her warmth, wit, and generous spirit touched all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles B. Cork, and her partner Charles "Charlie" MacArthur. Janet is survived by her sister Judy Naples Thompson; her children Charles (Debra) Cork, Doug (Gayle) Cork, Andy (Dianne) Cork, Polly (Steve) Seyller, Jennifer (Brad) Fischbach, Michelle (Rich) Hylton, and Nicole (Jason) Jankowski; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S State Street, Elgin, IL 60123. Visitation will take place that morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Plato Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause she cared deeply about.

Janet will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
