Jan Haegele wasn't just a coworker, she was my friend. We taught together at Hearst Elementary school for 14 years. I will always remember that she taught my granddaughter, Saquenna Robinson, to write checks and balance a checkbook in 4th grade. Saquenna later graduated from U of I with a degree in Accounting! How could I forget the song she wrote for our kindergarten graduates, "First Grade, First Grade", set to the tune of, "New York, New York"! She and our friend, Maureen Lotti are surely reunited in Heaven with all of the other classroom teachers who deserve all of our gratitude, love, and respect! Rest in peace, my friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bob and the rest of the Haegele family. Jan was one of a kind and quickly became one of my wife Maureen´s best friends at Hearst Elementary along with Sandy Graeber. The three of them would get together and just laugh and when Maureen and Jan were on the phone together, it would be a two hour conversation! Now they are together again in Heaven chatting up a storm. May all the wonderful memories your family shared together comfort you during this difficult time. You will have a special Angel watching over all of you .

Ms. Haegele was my 4th grade teacher. She was a phenomenal educator. All of my memories of her are fond.

Janet and I have known each other since we were old enough to have a best friend - like age 3. We grew up together from grade school through high school and did everything together. Our lives took different paths when we became adults but we have kept in tough all these years. Rest in Peace dear friend.

Janet and I shared two things in common, we were both educators for Chicago Public Schools, and our son's grew up together. Bob, Chris, and Jim were always together.
Once I took the three boys to Meramec Caverns and Cahokia Mounds for a day trip. I was thrilled to be able to do this with the boys and that their moms, Janet and Mary, trusted me to take the boys on this fun trip.
Janet was like a second mom to Chris and I will always be grateful for the fact she always treated him as one of her own. We will miss her.
