Janet Lowman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 22 to Jun. 23, 2005.
LATHAM Janet Lowman, 84, died peacefully at St. Peter's Hospice on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 with her family at her side after a courageous battle with lymphoma and Parkinson's disease. Born in Troy on January 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Bertha and Jens Rasmus Jensen. Janet grew up in Lansingburg and graduated from Lansingburg High School. Immediately after high school, she went to work for the family business, Wustefeld Candy Co. Afterward, she worked for Standard Rosenbaum and later retired from the NYS Comptroller's Office as an associate auditor in 1989. She was the past president and former chairperson of the Sunshine and Publicity Committees for St. Ambrose Young At Heart and had been a member of the Colonie Senior Citizens. Janet loved the ocean, flower arranging, traveling, and painting. She adored her daughter and son-in-law, her grandchildren and the family dog and will be missed very much by her family and friends. Janet was predeceased by her late husband Jack Lowman and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Dan Joos; her grandchildren, Kimberly, Danny, Christopher and Gregory Joos; and her sister, Joan Jensen. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass to celebrate Janet's life on Friday, June 24 at St. Ambrose Church in Latham at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made in Janet's name to the Lymphomia Research Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

Joan and family-I am so glad Brent and I were able visit our 'eastern' relatives a few years ago. I have fond memories of my family's visits to Troy through the years. I particularly remember Janet's warm smile. My thoughts are with you. Love, Anne

I worked with Janet in the Comptrollers Office and she was always a joy and alot of fun to be around. I've thought of her often, and she will be missed dearly.
