Janet Moe Lund

I am heartbroken to learn of the death of my favorite teacher. I knew her as Ms. Adamson and was her student from 1st to 6th grade at Franklin Elementary. She changed my life for the better by fostering my curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. I love her so much.

Dear Tom and Anna,
It was such an honor to care for Janet in the final years of her life, yet I also know that we did not know the real Janet. Still, we could feel her sweet spirit even through the disease.
It is my hope and prayer that you will feel the love and prayers of so many Bristol staff. I personally adored my times with her playing music, stroking the dog, and often smiling and giggling.
May you feel some peace and love in these days of grief and the opening of a new chapter.

Janet was an honorary member of our family for several years back in the day. She was so loving, kind and peaceful, and although I was very young then, she always treated me as if I were important and valued. (We didn't use those words back then -- I just thought she was the coolest girlfriend my brother Steven ever had.) Janet was just such a lovely person, who gave so much to so many. She will be greatly missed.

Tom and Anna, My thoughts are with you. I will always remember Janet as a sweet, thoughtful woman.

We have such fond memories of: our very first meeting with Janet & Tom at a parents evening at The American School in London when Anna and Molly were 2nd graders newly transplanted to London from LA and SLC; our trip together to Portugal...renting that house with the pool, the sand dunes...eating out/cooking in...and just, discovering; and our visit to the Roald Dahl Museum in Buckinghamshire (remember Anna!?) when, it wasn't until we finally arrived and I thought your mom was saying we were going to the "Royal Doll Museum"...which, btw, made sense as I thought it was the museum of the dolls belonging to the Royal family. Good times we all had..and such fond memories. Bob and I are so sad to hear this...and so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you.

Janet was a kind, remarkable woman who was among my mother Helen's best and dearest friends. I met her when I was seven. She was the first adult outside my family who noticed I was smart and not just dopey. When I was seven she called that I would become a writer. Janet SAW me at a time in my life I felt very invisible, and it mattered deeply to me that she did. She changed how I thought about myself and I remember palpably how grateful I was to be near her on the days she babysat me.

Helen adored her. She wanted to be just like Janet who had the most beautiful handwriting and who wrapped Christmas gifts in new and gorgeous ways every year. Like Helen, she knew the art of the perfect, tiny gift.

She was an exceptional teacher & then I believe she joined Eastern airline so she could travel the world on free tickets, and during this part of her life she met Tom Lund and they married and had a daughter, Ana, she doted on like nobody's business. She became the children's book seller at King's English Bookstore. We didn't see her in these years, but I noticed a definite change in her when I visited from graduate school one year,

Janet's illness was so cruel, it seemed to unravel so much of what she'd cherished in gradations that made it hard for her community to see the change was medical. The world lost an adventurous, kind, giving woman with Janet, I am sad she didn't get to live the long life she deserved, but relieved she has been relieved of the anguish she lived with. I will always love and think of her.

Janet is at the top of the list when it comes to sincerity and friendship. She has a heart of gold. Rest in Peace.
