Janet R. Pugh, 72, of Scranton, died Monday at the Green Ridge Care Center, Scranton.
Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Ruth Baker Pugh. Before retiring, she was a teacher for the Mid Valley School District and taught at the Mid Valley Elementary Center, Throop, for more than 35 years.
She was a past member of the First Primitive Methodist Church of Dickson City. Janet enjoyed bowling in a league at Idle Hour Lanes for many years and was very fond of dogs.
Surviving is her brother, David R. Pugh and wife, Carol, Dickson City.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Gardens of Green Ridge, Scranton, especially Molly, Kasey, Kim, Carissa, Tracy, Donna and Deidre, as well as Katie Morris and Kaleen Holden of Residential Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Hedley W. Mason Funeral Home, 436 Main St., Peckville, by Pastor Dylon Beamer of the First Primitive Methodist Church of Dickson City. Interment will be private.
Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janet's memory to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
