Janet Sprott Croom Robbins

Janet Robbins, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Janet was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a teacher, librarian, and avid reader, she instilled in her family and students a lifelong love of learning. Her passion for books was only surpassed by her love for her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Ginger Williams (Bill) and Martha Robbins (Freddie); her grandchildren, Alyson Williams, Kaylie Williams, Jessicka Hamilton (Bryan), Alexis Oberg (Drew), Alyssa Mercer, William Hinton, Robert Hinton, Katherine Hinton, Matthew Hinton, and Hallie Hinton; her sister-in-law, Cathy Kent Croom; and her nephew, Jonathan Croom. Two nieces Meagan Tignini and Lindsay Croom.

She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Brinley, Baylor, Bostyn, Blaire, and Beckham Hamilton; Hayden Oberg with baby boy Oberg expected later in April, and her loyal fur baby, Lucy.

She is preceded in death by her parents John E. Croom and Sue Sprott Croom and brother Henry C. Croom.

Janet loved camp growing up, so we are asking in lieu of flowers that you please help us send a child to camp this summer. The donations can be sent to First Christian Church-207 Tarboro St Wilson, NC using Camp Caroline as the memo.
