Janet Seidler

Norwalk Janet , Conn. - Seidler Janet Prindle Seidler passed away peacefully in the presence of family and friends on _February 19, 2025. Janet was born on July 22, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in the Shaker Heights suburb of Cleveland and graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1954. Janet continued her education at DePauw University and graduated from DePauw in 1958.

Janet started her career with Proctor & Gamble in market research and soon switched to investment management after being encouraged by her father, Karl Prindle. Early in her career, she held positions with several well-known firms, including Bessemer Trust Company, E. F. Hutton, and Moody's Investor Services.

Janet joined Neuberger Berman in 1977 and became their first female partner in 1983. Janet founded the Socially Responsive Investment Group at Neuberger Berman in 1988 and retired from Neuberger Berman in 2004. At a time when there were almost no women on Wall Street, Janet's extraordinary career in investment management was groundbreaking and served as an inspiration to countless women.

Janet was a strong believer in philanthropy. She endowed a chair in Women's Studies at DePauw, established the Janet Prindle Institute of Ethics at DePauw and was a patron of Carnegie Hall. She also devoted her time to charity by serving on the DePauw Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors & Advisory Committee of the Orchestra of St. Lukes and the Board of Directors of the Healthcare Chaplaincy.

Janet is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Charles John Seidler Jr., two nieces, Kathy Moran and Sarah Shaffer, and her nephew, Mark Johnson, three stepchildren and their spouses, Brooke (Wells) Beck, Blair (Scott) Hammond, and Chip (Lauren) Seidler, and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Karl Prindle and Mary Rymers Prindle, her sister, Anne Prindle Johnson, and her brother-in-law, David S. Johnson.

Janet's family wishes to thank Jake Umali and Gene Cruz, Janet and Charlie's caregivers during Janet's final years.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church 1864 Post Road Darien CT 06820 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Orchestra of St. Luke's 450 West 37th Street, Suite 502 New York, NY 10018.
