Janet was born in Fremont, Nebraska on December 7th, 1935 to the late Reverend Erwin and Rosalind ( Ritter) Vosseler. They then moved to Washington state and from there San Diego, California before World War 2. She was a graduate of Hoover High School.

Jan married Hugh Stockert in 1958. They settled in San Diego living in a suburb called La Mesa. They had 3 children. She worked for Sears Roebuck as a graphic artist for several years before devoting herself to being a homemaker. She was a creative at heart and always maintained a craft room. She dabbled in many art forms, but predominantly was a painter, specializing in a style called Tole painting. We all learned what a gift being creative brings to one's life through her example. She made our lives beautiful with her art, her home keeping, and style.

In her later years, her husband and her split their time between Murrieta, California and Minden, Nevada, having houses at different times in both places. While in Murrieta, Jan, co-founded a group named Yarnsters It was a group of knitters that got together each week knitting hats for soldiers, for cancer patients and for preemies. She herself knit hundreds of these. She and Hugh also were avid gardeners and took joy in it. They particularly loved to grow roses. She also was a part of a choir in her retirement community and was a wonderful alto singer. She held dear her Christian faith.

She is survived by her three children, Lucinda ( Lynn) and her husband, Bob Fries, her son, Brian and his wife, Karen and their children, Hugh ( Jackie) and son, Zachary, Christopher , Jeffery ( Ashanti) and son, Azrael ; her son, Deron and his children, Megan and her husband Julian Martinez and son , Dawson, Dalton, Graciela, and Wyatt. She is also survived by nieces, Linda and Judy Vosseler, and Dianne Drennan and nephews, Chuck and Rick Edwards, David Vosseler and Kevin Stockert.

Dear long time friends, Sandy Batisto, Shirley Laser and Lois Tollefsen also survived her.

In addition to her parents, Jan is preceded in death by her husband Hugh, her siblings Donna and Gene, brother-in-laws Gene and Chuck and sister-in-laws Dody and Wanda. Nieces, Cheryl and Cindy, nephews, Stevie, Jeff, as well as two grandchildren, Joshua Steven Fries and Baby Girl Stockert also preceded her. Preceding her also friend of 70 years, Ginny Addis.

A celebration of life luncheon with family will be held during the summer. A memorial at her assisted living took place in May.

I thank my mother for the gift of faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior! She was my greatest champion. If she believed in you, she would never abandon you. I am glad she lived to see me become a pastor like her father. There is a grand reunion going on in heaven with my dad and her relatives. Aufweidersehen Mutti, until we meet again! Love, Brian
