Janice Cutshall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 4, 2025.

Janice C. Cutshall, lovingly known as "Jan," passed away peacefully at the age of 83, on 26 May, 2025. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Jan was a proud graduate of Beloit College, Beloit WI, Class of 1963. After traveling around Europe, in 1965, she married the love of her life, Jack K. Cutshall, and together they built a beautiful life across Colorado and Arizona.

Jan cherished the natural beauty of Colorado-the Rocky Mountains, bright blue skies, and cumulus clouds brought her joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her days were filled with rich conversations with friends and family both near and far, laughter, and the camaraderie of her beloved coffee group, whose friendships she deeply treasured.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Elizabeth Cutshall; her granddaughter, Abigail W. Gruener; her brother, Steve Chester; as well as her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Cutshall; her daughter, Allyson Gruener; and her brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Elaine Chester.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut Street, Windsor, Colorado, with a reception immediately following at Pelican Lakes Golf Club.

Jan's presence and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Dear Elizabeth,

Our condolences on your mother's passing. We have missed having her in the neighborhood these last couple of years, though she seemed very happy with her lovely apartment at Good Samaritan. We are unable to join the continuation of memorial as we have an obligation for Steve's daughter's dogs today in Eaton. The service was very nice--a lovely combination of personal and traditional. I did not know that Jan so valued the blue sky and clouds, and nature in its fullness, and that tugged at my heart strings. So did the poem by your niece; what a lovely tribute to the important role Jan had and will continue to have in Abigail's life. And the music was so wonderful; we had heard, over the years, about the musicians in the family, and so enjoyed their talent and selections. I imagine Jan was very pleased. Please pass along our condolences to all the family members and our appreciation to all the family and friends who lead the worship.

In sympathy and fond remembrance,

Jean and Steve Zuckweiler
