Janice Griffith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 25, 2024.
Janice Jean (Nichols) Griffith, passed away with her three daughters & son in law by her side, on August 15th, 2024, at the age of 73 in Blue Springs, Missouri. Born on November 4th, 1950, in Lexington, Missouri, She was the eldest daughter of the late Murry Nichols (Hoot) and Viola (Mansell) Nichols (Vie) and grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings Jerry, Jack, Murrietta, and Jimmy Nichols, all of whom preceded her in death.

Janice, a graduate of Orrick High School 1968 , she devoted her career to serving others through various roles in her life. She worked at S&K Industries, Lake City Ammunition Plant, and was the Co owner at Griffith Trucking Company as she drove a semi truck all over the usa. She was also a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant and loved caring for the elderly. Her kindness and compassion extended beyond her professional life into her personal passions. She loved Christmas and giving to others, especially to her friends at Friendship Manor apartments in Blue Springs and kids that couldn't have a Christmas. For the past few years, Janice & her daughters collected thousands of christmas cards & gifts for the residents and passed them out on christmas eve.

Known for her different colored hair usually pink or green and riding around on her electric scooter barefoot with her dog Zeke, she was so much fun and always made people smile.
She was hilarious and had a great sense of humor she was very onery and people always called her little bit because she was so small. Janice brought joy to many through her performances as "Granny Janny" as she dressed up as an older lady and made people laugh and cry by dancing & singing, and her love for singing and entertaining was evident in her many shows she performed at. She was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, and she loved going fishing with her daughters and out to breakfast with her cousins. She loved watching her favorite TV shows, "Matlock" and "Murder, She Wrote," and never missed an episode usually watching them over and over. She also
loved spending time at the casino with her daughters and grandchildren that made her so happy.

Janice's life was enriched by her very close relationships with her daughters and grandchildren. They were her best friends and she always talked about them and cherished them. Rachelle Hibdon of Independence, Racquel Hibdon of Independence, Renee Blanks & husband James Blanks of Blue Springs also her grandson Joseph Hibdon and his girlfriend Julia Quinones of Gladstone; and her granddaughter Harmony Hibdon of Independence. But she told everyone her favorite loves were her spoiled rotten fur babies, TeddyBear Griffith and her late fur baby Zeke Griffith who lived to be 16 and rode around on her scooter with her.

Janice was also preceded in death by her infant son Tommy Lee and infant niece Faith Nichols.

Janice's final wishes are to be cremated and only request a small private gathering with her immediate family, her daughters, son in law, grandchildren and her beloved TeddyBear.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to help her daughters with a beautiful headstone to be placed at her final resting spot Cravens Cemetery Camden Missouri. Contributions will help commemorate a life beautifully lived and a spirit that will be profoundly missed. So sorry about your loss Renee We love you and the family. What I know of Ms. Janice is that she welcomed my Brother into her family and loved him for many years. And just from hearing of stories about her I knew her to be a fighter. I know you will never be over this but please take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. I Love you so much!

Our mom always performed as "Granny Janny" an older lady that sang and danced. She made thousands of people laugh and she always had shows every weekend
and performed at the fair, nursing homes, country music shows and she loved what she did. I will miss her singing "Take the ribbons from my hair" & "Going to Kansas City". She was one of a kind.

I remember her driving that smurf blue Ford Escort she drove. I think she was the only person that drove a car that color. She was always like a second mom to me when we were all running around.
Her nickname was Little Bit ! I have way to many memories of her to put all of them down here. She will always be known to me as mama J.
