Janice Ann Monroe

June 12, 1949 - May 4, 2025

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Ann Monroe, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and cherished member of her community.

Janice was born on June 12, 1949, in Wooddale, Illinois, to Jimmy "Tiger" Mason and Dorothy Fern (Melon) Mason. Though her mother passed during childbirth, Jan was raised in faith and with love. She grew up in West Chicago, where she attended Community High School and forged many lifelong friendships. Among her closest were Benny Daniels and Randy Lewis. Their youthful days by the river were filled with laughter and with the sounds of Bob Seger and old-time rock and roll echoing in the background. These formative moments remained constant, treasured memories throughout her life.

Jan spent over twenty years working at General Mills in West Chicago. In 1986, after meeting the love of her life, Jeremiah George Monroe III, she made a life-changing move to Florida. Jan and Jerry shared over 40 years of marriage - a life built on love, laughter, and unshakable partnership. Together, they created a home and family that Jan treasured with all her heart.

Never one to sit still, Jan held various jobs in Florida before founding her own successful cleaning company. Jan was also a passionate fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs, and her love and zeal for her hometown never faded.

Jan was known for her boundless energy, generous spirit, and open heart. She never met a stranger - if you had a need, she met it with compassion and action and would do everything in her power to help. Her commitment to service touched many lives: feeding the homeless, supporting children in need, and giving freely to the causes she believed in.

She is survived by her loving husband Jerry; her stepmother Audrey Mason (California); her son Michael Perso; daughters Jennifer Jablonowski and Tammie Alloe; stepson Anthony Monroe, all of Florida; sisters Bonnie Hubbell (California) and Patty Levandoski (Michigan), and brother Gary Mason, of Illinois. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Mackenzie King, Harmon Hansen, Casey Hansen, and Noah Alloe, who were the light of her life and the joy of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Helen Mason; brother Jimmy Mason; and sisters Ginny Suwinski, Trudy Rahm, and Lynnda Leitshuhah.

Jan's presence lit up every room she entered, and her kindness, generosity, and warmth were felt by all who knew her. She will be immensely missed and forever remembered by the many lives she brightened.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held Saturday, June 21st at Lakeside Presbyterian Church located at 4601 S Flagler Dr, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, 1 - 3pm. All are warmly invited to join and celebrate her memory with love and laughter, just as she would have wanted.

Instead of flowers, we invite you to honor her memory with a donation to one of the causes she cared about or directly to Lakeside Presbyterian Church in her name.
