Janice Lynn Morrison

Reno - Janice Lynn Morrison, passed away on December 17, 2025, at age 72, in Reno Nevada.

Jan was born February 1, 1953 in Great Falls, Montana to Russell F. and Dorothy M. Morrison, where she grew up with her brother Rick in a neighborhood full of wonderful families, friends and fun. She graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in 1971, and received a BA in Speech & Communications and Psychology, from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1975. After college she moved to Spokane WA, where she worked in retail and as a legal assistant. In 1995 Jan relocated to Reno NV where she worked as grant administrator for the Washoe Country School District until her retirement in 2021.

If you were lucky enough to be befriended by Jan, you had a friend for life. From Jan's group of longtime high school girl friends from Great Falls, to her friends and 'adopted families' in Reno, Jan was the good friend you could count on. She was always there to lend a hand, to celebrate successes and to comfort in times of sadness.

Jan enjoyed traveling, and always had a wonderful time regardless of the destination. Trips to Europe or South America were as fun and exciting as a trip to the vineyards of Nappa Valley. Jan also loved to host family or friends at her home, organize parties, and bake cookies and treats for friends and neighbors. It was hard to visit Jan and not have the visit revolve around good food and delightful conversation. When Jan wasn't entertaining, she was enjoying all the outdoors had to offer. She always had a beautiful flower garden, and shared way too many pictures of her flowers with family and friends. On occasion she tried her hand at golf, horseback riding, dog sledding, snowshoeing and many other outdoor activities that piqued her interest.

Jan is survived by her partner of 17 years, Christopher Tilton (Reno, NV), brother Richard Morrison and his wife Sandra, nephew Brian Morrison and his wife Heidi, niece Erin McCarty and her husband Ryan, and great nephew and niece Callum and Tatum McCarty, all of Bozeman, MT. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Dorothy Morrison.

Jan will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for her kindness and love for family and friends.
