Janice Lynn Thompson

Clinton

Janice Lynn Thompson, our beautiful loved-one, flew to her Savior on May 14th at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Jan was born in Macon, Mississippi on May 22, 1959 to James Edwin Robertson and Wanda Faye Redus. She was a loving and caring wife and mother, and truly relished being in the company of family and friends. She loved laughter, reunions, blue jeans, family photos, and peace signs. Jan had a gift of being able to share just the perfect words to those in need and crisis, and she helped numerous friends in the recovery community. She was so very proud of her three sons, and cherished her grand children. Jan was a faithful and cherished member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Clinton.

She is preceded in death by her father, and her treasured sister Marie McKenna. She is survived by her grandmother Georgia Lee Cade of Macon; her mother Wanda Faye Redus of Bradley; her husband of 26 years, David Eugene Thompson of Clinton; her son Brandon Matthew Redus, daughter-in-law Amy Redus, and grandchildren Brandi Lane and Jamie Kate Redus all of Crystal Springs; her son Perry James Redus, daughter-in-law Brooke Redus, and grandchildren Nick and Austin Wylie all of Starkville; her son David Luke Thompson of Clinton; her sister Cynthia Ann Hughes and family of Bradley; and her brother Michael Edwin Robertson and family of Philadelphia.

A visitation and celebration of her life and love will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, 1702 Old Vicksburg Road, Clinton, MS 39056, Friday, May 17th, 5-7 PM. Her funeral service is at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd., Jackson Mississippi 39209, Saturday, May 18th at 2 PM, with visitation there prior at 1 PM.

I knew Jan when we were both teenagers. I was friends with her and her family but lost touch as we all grew up. My condolences to her family on the loss of Jan and also her sweet little sister, Marie.

I knew Jan through recovery meetings and she was a very special lady. She was inspirational to me in times when I was lost. I am so very sorry she won't be here to continue her mission for so many that need her wisdom. She is dancing with Jesus now. That is a Blessing beyond expression. My prayers and sympathy go out to your family while you journey through this loss. Jan was a special lady.

David and sons of Jan,

Words cannot begin to express the feeling of loss we know that you are experiencing. We share that grief with you. But at the same time feel a sense of joy knowing that your Jan is free of pain and suffering for the first time in a very long time and is now at peace with our Lord.
