Janie Chapman McNew MEADOWVIEW, Va. Mrs. Janie Chapman McNew, 66, of Meadowview, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Born on Feb. 1, 1945, in Smyth County, Va., she was a lifelong resident of the area. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister she was a deeply devoted and caring lady. She enjoyed spending time with her family and serving the Lord. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hunter H. and Nannie Surber Chapman and one brother, Roscoe Edward Chapman. She is survived by her husband, Allen McNew; four children, Ricky McNew and wife, Tammy, Kim Allison and husband, Steven, Matt McNew, and Mark McNew, all of Meadowview; five grandchildren, Brad McNew, Jessica Allison, Rachel McNew, Hannah Allison and Emma Allison; one sister, Nelda Andrews and husband, Phil of Hopewell, Va.; one aunt; one uncle; and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Blevins and the Rev. Don Tate officiating. The interment will follow in Blackwell Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brad McNew, Joe Frye, Ralph Frye, Jackie McNew, Chester Holly and Johnny Vannoy. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Trinity Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions in memory of Mrs. Janie McNew may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, c/o Ronnie Blevins, 28194 Chestnut Ridge Road, Meadowview, VA 24361.
