Janine Gerencser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 9 to Apr. 11, 2009.
JANINE MARIE GERENCSER (SCHACHTEL) April 20th, 1954 April 5th, 2009 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Janine, following an inspiring 10 month battle with brain cancer. The legacy she leaves is her family loving husband, Alvin, of 35 years, her treasured children of whom she was proud of, Kim Gerencser (Alison Schwartz), Gretta and son-in-law, Brendon Sayers, Curtis Gerencser (Jenna Brewster); dear mother, Mary Schachtel; her siblings, Sr. Judy SMS, Allan, Gary (Linda), Marilyn Forden, Lorne (Sally), Wayne (Catheryn), Joanne, John (Sue), Marie (Ron) Letendre; sister-in-law, Caroline; 16 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. Janine is reunited with her father, John Schachtel; sister, Lorraine; parents-in-law, Joe and Rose Gerencser; brother-in-law, Ray Arnatt; and nephew, Keith Forden. Janine was born in Regina, raised and educated in Quinton, and graduated in 1972 at Punnichy. On October 20th, 1973 she married Alvin and spent the last 35 years in the Arbury District, north of Cupar, farming and raising their family. In 1996 she obtained her certificate for a Special Care Aide and spent the last 13 years working at the Cupar Nursing Home. In spring 2008, she became a certified Reiki Master and Reflexologist. She was passionate about music throughout her life and gifted many people with her ability at hundreds of celebrations. She loved her garden, tending to her flower beds, singing in church choirs, and she especially loved and fussed over the young and old. Never once in her illness did she complain or feel sorry for herself. Instead her gentle and loving nature soothed many with her laughter and positive zest for life. We are very grateful to the staff for the loving care from 3B Pasqua, 5A General and Grace Hospice. We sincerely thank Dr. Buwenbo for his valiant effort. The Vigil for Janine will be held on Sunday, April 12th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 13th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., both services from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Cupar, SK with Rev. Father Bob MacKenzie as celebrant. Following the reception, the Rite of Committal will take place at St. Elizabeth's Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cupar Nursing Home or a charity of your choice. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel and Sue Panattoni MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES, Saskatoon, SK (306) 978-5200.

Alvin & Family
I'm so sorry to hear the passing of "JANINE".
Alvin I just heard that Janine passed on. I sorry I missed the service for her, but it's never to late to send my deepest sorrow on her passing.
Alvin I'll always remeber her as a very happy and great person to be around in good times and sorrowful times.
Memories of personality, her singing at my sister Isobell's funeral, and the good times years ago when we seen you and Janine more often.
Life for you and your family has changed alot now but "MEMORIES" will keep Janine in your heart for a lifetime, as everyone that knew Janine.

My deepest sympathy to family and friends. I knew Janine only for a short time, but was inspired by her lust for life and always seeing the positive in everything. I remember working with Janine on the dreaded night shifts, what fun and crazy conversations we had. Will always remember her beautiful smile and the peace she would bring to the residents in their difficult times with her Reiki, was really amazing!! My thoughts are with you all.

God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, “Come to me”.
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.

The brightness in Janine’s eyes & the warmth in her smile will always be remembered.

Deepest condolences.
