Janis Lyden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2025.
Janis Rose Lyden (née Diaz) passed away on February 10, 2025, in Coral Gables, Florida, at the age of 74, surrounded by her loved ones. Her sons, Patrick Aloysius Lyden III and Kevin Michael Lyden, her daughter-in-law, Crystal Lyden, and her sister, Dr. Debra Diaz, were by her side in her final moments.

Born in New York City, Janis later moved with her family to Miami, Florida. She pursued a career in nursing before settling in Homestead in 1977 with her husband, Patrick Aloysius Lyden II. Together, they built a successful business growing tropical plants and became valued members of the local agricultural community.

Janis had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and shared her home with many beloved dogs over the years. She also cherished time spent at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, where she created lasting memories with family.

She is survived by her husband Patrick Aloysius Lyden II, sons Patrick and Kevin; daughter-in-law Crystal; grandchildren Daniel, Lori, and Lily; and siblings Luis Carrion, Phyllis Tamariz, Debra Diaz, and Harry Diaz, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass will be held in her memory at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. The church is located at 106 SE 1st Dr., Homestead, FL 33030. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at https://www.lls.org.

Janis's kindness and warmth touched many lives. Though she may no longer be present in body, her spirit will live on through the love and memories shared by those who knew her.
