Jared Bühler Palmer, 85, a successful businessman, loving husband, devoted father and faithful brother, passed away in New Orleans on Tuesday June 13, 2017 after a long illness.
Mr. Palmer was educated at New Orleans Academy where he graduated first in his class and received an academic scholarship to study Business Administration at Tulane University. After university, he served as an Ensign in the US Navy for two years on assignment in the Mediterranean and on his return, he married Carolyn Patricia Conway, his wife for the past 61 years.
Mr. Palmer was owner and president of the firm Twi-Ro-Pa Mills Agency, a wholesale cordage company in New Orleans, which his father founded in 1924. He grew the company into a major export-import company dealing in ropes and twines. Fluent in Spanish, Jared conducted broad business dealings with firms in Latin America and many parts of the world. Mr. Palmer was a parishioner of Pius XII church and is a past president of the Vista Shores Club.
Jared B. Palmer was born on August 4, 1931 in New Orleans. His parents, George Joseph Palmer Sr. and Juliette Marie Wehrmann Palmer, predeceased him many years ago. He was the second of seven children, all of whom survive him and mourn his loss: George Joseph Palmer Jr. of South Pasadena, Florida; Richard Wehrmann Palmer of Imperial Beach California; Robert Louis Palmer of Poplarville, Mississippi; Vernon Valentine Palmer of New Orleans, Juliette Marie Palmer of Hussar, Louisiana and Walter Allan Palmer of Helena, Montana. The entire Palmer clan lived and grew up together in the home known as “Tara” on St. Charles Avenue where so many memories were made and the closest bonds were forged.
Jared is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife Carolyn, their four children Jared Bühler Palmer Jr., Carolyn Palmer Guste, John Palmer, and Gregory Palmer, as well by three daughters-in-law Elizabeth Palmer, Robin Palmer, and Madeleine Palmer and their son-in-law James Guste. He is also survived by eight wonderful grandchildren: Nicole, Trey, Joshua, Mary, John, Joy, Ross and Vivian.
The funeral will take place at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on June 21, 2017. Visitation will begin at 9AM and a memorial mass will begin at 11AM.

Carolyn and Family: So very sorry to hear of Jared's passing. I was unable to attend his service but know that he gained a special place in heaven with the Lord. I will always remember his smile and happy greetings on Tchoupitoulas. May God give you the grace to stand strong as he did as a servant of the Lord.

Dear Carolyn,
I am in Greece until the middle of July and, unfortunately, will not be able to be with you and the family when Jared is laid to rest. I read of Jared's passing online. Please know you are all in my prayers.
Fondly,
