Jasmine Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 21 to Jul. 22, 2011.

SMITH, Jasmine Eve

Jasmine Eve Smith passed away in Calgary,
Alberta on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 37 years
of age. She was born in Riverside, California
and raised for a good portion of her teenage
years in Kona, Hawaii. Jazz is lovingly
remembered by her husband D'Amyn Ansell,
daughter Erika (ten) and son Christian
(three), her mother Kathryn of Boise, Idaho,
her grandfather Ken Smith of Kona, Hawaii
and many other family and friends. Jasmine
was one of seven sisters: Rachel and Leah of
San Antonio, Texas, Felicia of Rhode Island,
Raven of Korea, Autumn of San Francisco,
and Promise of Colorado Springs. Growing up
in a military family, she lived in many places
around the U.S. She had fond memories
of her time in Anchorage, Alaska as well as
Ft. Polk, Louisiana, Denver, Colorado, and
San Antonio, Texas. Jasmine lived with her
grandfather, Ken Smith, in Kona, Hawaii
during some of her high school years and took
great fun in ocean sports and barrel racing.
In her early adult years she worked as a
concierge at resorts on the Big Island. She
also modeled in fashion shoots in Hawaii and
Japan and was selected to represent Body
Glove for their swimwear line. Jasmine
immigrated to Canada in 1998 and lived and
worked in Calgary. She was a spirited member
of the oil and gas community and traveled
extensively in recent years. She made many
friends with her fun-loving and outgoing
personality. Jazz bred and excelled at
showing Cocker-Spaniels and was active in
the Canadian Kennel Club in western Canada.
An avid traveler, Jasmine loved camping and
especially taking cruise ship vacations with
her family to the Caribbean. She was an
exceptional vacation planner and the driving
force behind annual sisters' trips. She used
her artistic skill and attention to detail to
create decorated theme cakes that absolutely
wowed all those who saw her work. Jasmine
was also a big supporter of Erika's
gymnastics and was very proud of her
advancement into the P2 competitive level.
Jasmine was a wonderful and loving woman
who often sacrificed herself to help others
who were in a bind. We will all treasure the
wonderful memories that she has left with us
as one of our Creator's finest of creations.
Friends are invited to join in a Memorial

D'aymn, Erika and Christen, I was in shock when I heard about Jasmine's passing. Sorry we missed the funeral, we are out of town. Jasmine was very special to me, I was always in awe how she handled her illness. She always looked amazing, you would never know she was suffering as she never complained. She taught me how to handle such a horrible disease and I will never forget her. D'aymn if there is anything you need please call, or stop by. Love Alana, Ray, Jacob and Mary Backer

Jasmine was a wonderful gal and the world was a better place for her having been in it. She fought her health battle like a warrior princess and she has more than earned her Angel's wings. Those of us who called her "friend" were the privileged ones. She will never be forgotten by those of us in the cocker community and our hearts go out to her family....Godspeed Jazz, you were one of the best!
