Jason Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 27, 2025.
Jason Stuart Davis, 53, passed away on July 17, 2025, in Walnut Creek, California. Born on July 2, 1972, in Concord, California, Jason lived a life rich with creativity, passion, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and community.

Jason is lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Lisa, and their two children, Aidan and Finn. He also leaves behind his father Doug; his brother Matt and sister-in-law Becky; and his cherished niece Willow, who brought him immense joy and was a beacon of light in his life. He now joins his beloved mother and grandfather in eternal rest.

From an early age, Jason's artistic spirit shone brightly. He attended and graduated from Mt.Diablo High School in Concord, where he played the trumpet, and became a top tier drum major. After graduation, he performed with the Blue Devils Winterguard, pursuing a lifelong passion for performance and pageantry.

His dedication to these activities extended well beyond his performing years and was far reaching-he later served as a staff member for the Mt.Diablo Red Devil Band & Winterguard, Glenbrook Middle School, Glenbrook Independent, Legato, and Amador Valley High School, as well as the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps, and the San Jose Raiders Winterguard. His contributions over the years helped to shape a generation of performers with the same enthusiasm and precision that defined his own time on the floor.

Jason attended Diablo Valley College, and later graduated from Cal State East Bay (Hayward). Following graduation, he began teaching at Glenbrook Middle School, later moving on to the Seven Hills School in Walnut Creek, California, where he spent nearly 18 years guiding students in the performing arts, including his own children, Aidan and Finn.

Jason was not only a musician and performer but also an author, scholar, and artist across multiple genres. His creativity knew no bounds-whether composing music or crafting stories, painting, or abstract art of his own creation, he approached each endeavor with boundless avant-garde. Across all genre, Jason's artistry inspired countless students to find confidence through movement and self-expression. His legacy lives on in every flag tossed skyward, every step taken in rhythm, and every performance, by those he mentored.

Jason's love for Disney was undeniable. Disneyland was more than just a destination-it was his happy place where imagination and creativity are brought to life through innovation, and countless memories are forever anchored here.

He was also an athlete and avid sports fan whose loyalty never wavered from the San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and Oakland A's. Whether cheering from the stands or from home surrounded by loved ones, Jason found joy in every game. He particularly found joy coaching youth sports.

Jason had a theological mind and heart, and his Christian faith was a guiding force-- along with his abiding love for family and friends, his faith grounded him through all seasons of life.

Jason will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him. May his memory bring comfort to those who carry it forward in their hearts and through the love they share with others.

Jason,

You were part of the village that raised me. From the band room or somewhere nearby, you were my color guard and Winterguard coach, dance/cheer instructor, pre-college counselor, and life guide. You made me read The Fountainhead and questioned me after every single chapter. It´s been years but the wisdom you shared, the love you showed, and the belief you had in all of us still resonates. You challenged me to rise to every occasion and I´m forever grateful. I can still hear Beastie Boys or Prince playing, part of the soundtrack of my life thanks to you. You were a true blessing to me and to so many.

Legends never die.

With love,

Rekha

Jason "J", one of my dearest friends and brother in spirit. I will miss your love, your humor, your wisdom, your acceptance, and your encouragement, among so many other things. I will think of you often; when I read, listen to music, when I watch colorguard or drum corps, you will be there. I will celebrate your life in Disneyland, when I decorate for holidays, host a family dinner, and every time I hug your children, and one day theirs; you will be there too. Thank you for 30 years of friendship

Jason Davis. There truly aren´t words adequate to describe exactly how much he meant (and still means) to me. I met him when I was just 15 years old, and nobody has had a bigger impact on my life. I am blessed to have known him as a teacher (I was a colorguard kid), a colleague (we taught guard together for almost 10 years), and as one of my closest and dearest friends. "J" (that´s who he was to me) has been part of pretty much every one of my fondest memories/major life events over the last three decades, and I still can´t believe he is gone.

J never stopped being my most favorite teacher (and I have had some amazing teachers over the years!). I learned so much from him until the day he passed (and I imagine that I will continue to learn from him for the rest of my days). J taught me about colorguard, music, books, art, Bible/theology, history, sports...you name it. Most importantly, he taught me about Love, Grace, and Mercy. More than anyone else I have ever known, J believed in and practiced Love, Grace, and Mercy every day of his life-with his students, his loved ones, even strangers on the street. People have always been drawn to him, and I firmly believe it´s because he exuded those qualities. I told him once that he had "Jesus coming out of his ears," and he said that was probably the best compliment he had ever received. He immediately replied that it was not his doing, but "Christ in him." God worked through J to touch SO many people, and I thank God every day for every precious moment I was able to spend with him. There could never have been enough time with J for me, but the time I had was life changing. My hope is that I can honor his memory by sharing with others what he has taught me.

J, it was an honor to "do life" with you in the time we had. I will carry you in my heart always and miss you every day for the rest of my life. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
Love, Lisa Lesley

I was in middle school choir during 2010/2011. Mr. Davis´s intuition for picking songs was so spot-on. Creep by Radiohead, Breathe (2 AM), Jar of Hearts - the most cathartic songs for middle school girl angst and anxiety! I remember feeling so supported and understood by him, and trusted him a lot. His presence got me through a challenging 8th grade year and he remained one of my favorite teachers for his humor, encouragement, and ability to just know when something was off. I´m so grateful to him for creating that space for me and my friends and treasure those lunchtime memories. Rest in Peace, Mr. Davis.

When I was in middle school, Mr. Davis taught me how to play guitar and gave me a lifelong appreciation for music. I'm 27 now and I know I'll always be grateful to him for that.

Davis family, my heart hurts finding out this sad news. Mr. Davis was an unbelievable teacher whose influence still resonates with me today. He was a glue that held my class of 2016 together, he pushed us to our creative limits and showed each and everyone of us how to shine. Thank you for everything Mr. Davis, rest in peace

Dear Aiden, Finn and the Davis family. Your father brought so much joy and kindness and understanding to all of our kids. Mr Davis was definitely one of their favorite teachers during their time at Seven Hills. They are all crushed to hear of his untimely passing. Our thoughts, prayers and hugs go out to all of you. We know he is dearly missed and beloved.
