Jason King Hall

August 8, 1989 - March 12, 2025

Jason King Hall passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025 at his Hilo, Hawaii home. An avid surfer and outdoorsman he loved Hawaii and the beautiful life he helped create with his family, close friends and colleagues. His children and their close relationships meant everything to him. Whether it was a guitar lesson, an afternoon learning to surf or a deep discussion about faith and a higher power, Jason was a talented and gifted soul that made a profound impression in the lives of his children, family and everyone who knew him.

His Life:

Jason was born on August 8, 1989 in Yorba Linda, California to Gerald O. Hall, Jr. "Jerry" and Tracy Scallet. Raised in San Diego County attending local schools including Encinitas Country Day guided by his favorite teacher Mrs. Jeanine Rowe.

His Education:

University of Hawaii at Hilo is where Jason graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He also graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and was most recently working towards a Master's Degree in Social Work both from Walden University.

His Career:

Jason was an experienced social worker manager and administrator with 12 years in the community health, mental health, social services, and substance abuse treatment fields. He was a compassionate and empathetic professional who had experience in building and developing mental health and social service programs and running large teams. He also owned and operated a small landscaping and yard service business in the East Hawaii area (Hilo, Hamakua and Puna Districts).

His Family and Friends:

Jason is survived by his former wife Whittney Anela Soares-Hall; their daughter Jude Hall and son Luna Hall; step-son Mikolas Soares "Miko"; and son Nova Hall from a later relationship; Whittney's father Frank Haug; Whittney's mother and step-father Mellony (Reynaldo) Mercado; Whittney's grandmother Angel Soares; Whittney's brother Tony (Linda) Haug; his father Gerald O. Hall, Jr. "Jerry"; step-mother Michelle Nguyen-Hall; brother Maxwell Hall "Max"; step-brother Bond Pham; his mother Tracy Scallet (Derek); and sister Hannah Scallet. Also, survived by his aunt Lynne Morin; uncles Michael Rosenthal and Jon Hall; many cousins especially Jeffrey Hall; and long-time family friend Michelle McBride - all who loved Jason so very much. Preceding Jason's passing his paternal grandfather Gerald O. Hall, Sr.; paternal grandmother Carolyn Hall Ippolito; maternal grandfather David Rosenthal (Marsha); maternal grandmother Candy Martin; and paternal great grandmother Mary E. Cearley whom Jason and the Hall family affectionately called "Mom Moms". Our deepest thanks and heartfelt appreciation to his close friends Andy Joplin (best friend in California); Joshua Alameda (best friend in Hawaii); and his sons Poa Alameda and Le'a Alameda. Jason lost 2 friends, Daniel Sisson and Jacob Pastel, and we have faith that they are all together again. A special mention for Nohi, Jason's loyal and loving canine who will live with his children in their forever home.

There are many who loved Jason and mourn his loss. As Andy Joplin said, "Jason's overpowering positivity and how he brought smiles to people's faces as well as his sense of humor and laugh were unmatched". Although his time on this earth was too brief, he leaves a legacy of helping many lives and having a strong work ethic in everything he did personally and professionally. We pray his soul will Rest in Peace forever and we thank God for a life well-lived.

Aloha 'oe Jason.
