Spc. Jason Dean Hunt, 22, was born August 25, 1987 and died November 5, 2009, at Fort Hood, Texas.Born in Moore, Oklahoma to Gary and Gale Hunt, he attended Tipton, Oklahoma schools graduating in 2005. He enlisted in the United States Army Infantry in 2006, completing basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia before being stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. During his 15 month deployment in Iraq, he re-enlisted in the Army, committing six more years of service before returning to Fort Hood, Texas in April, 2009 where he was assigned to the 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. He was to be deployed to Kuwait in January 2010. He married Jennifer Morgan, August 22, 2009 in Oklahoma City.Jason was a very quiet boy and enjoyed the challenges of internet world video games. His shy and sensitive side was transformed when he joined the military. His already caring nature bloomed into something brave, selfless and fearless. He hoped to save someone's life someday but that hope was cut short November 5, 2009 when he was killed in the mass shooting rampage at the Fort Hood Readiness Center. Jason was the third generation in his family to serve in the military. His father, a Viet Nam veteran, served in the U.S. Air Force, his paternal grandfather served in WWII in the U.S. Navy, and an uncle, also a Viet Nam veteran, served in the U.S. Army.Memorial services, officiated by Rocky Pettyjohn, were held November 14, 2009 at Primrose Chapel with interment at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman, Oklahoma. In a private ceremony prior to the services, three medals were presented to his family by Brigadier General Ross E. Ridge of Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Jason had already received numerous other medals and awards during his 3 1/2 years of service. Patriot Guard Riders, many carrying U.S. flags on motorcycles escorted the procession to the cemetery. An Army honor guard served as pall bearers, and other soldiers from Fort Sill and Fort Hood also attended. Brig. Gen. Ross Ridge presented folded flags to the family. Taps was played by a lone Army bugler followed by a gun salute. A large replica of the Liberty Bell was available for family and friends to ring in honor of Jason. Jason is survived by his parents, Gary Hunt, Norman, OK, Gale Hunt, Frederick, OK, sisters Leila Willingham and husband Mitch, McKinney, TX, Angela Smith and husband Tony, Noble, OK, brother Allen Hunt Knapple, Norman, OK, two nieces, two nephews, wife Jennifer Hunt, Del City, OK and her three children, Silver, Trinity, and Trystan whom he loved and adored.Jason is also survived by grandparents Kay Smith, Frederick, OK and Sam Borrell, Fleetwood, PA. Aunts and uncles, Marsha and Curtis Johnston, Norman, Shara and Don Thayer, Tulsa, Jimmy Hunt, Norman, Bryan and Donna Hunt, Tecumseh, Debbie and Jim Farris, Norman, Lynda and Gary Boyd, Moore and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.Jason was welcomed into heaven with loving arms by his Heavenly Father and paternal grandparents, James Bryan and Uva Jo Hunt.
