Jason OLSEN Obituary
June 27, 1966 – April 19, 2016
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved, Jason Erling Olsen. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie (nee Jussila), son, Bruno, and daughter, Aurelia. He leaves behind his parents, Erling and Bonnie Olsen, sister and brother-in-law, Launa and Tom Groulx (Kevin, and Cara), sister and brother-in-law, Corinne and David Bjork (Daniel, Charissa, and Joshua), as well as brother and sister-in-law, Trevor and Patti (nee Burgess) Olsen (Tristin and Tiffany). He will be greatly missed by all his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jason was the fourth generation of the Olsen family to fish the B.C. coast. He was a captain in the commercial fishing industry in the family business, Leader Fishing, for the last thirty years. He loved fishing and the comradery of the crew members. He was a spontaneous person who collected and loved to ride his cars and motorcycles to visit and socialize with family and friends. The viewing will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home Chapel at 14644 – 72 Avenue in Surrey. The service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church – 11040 River Road, Delta. The Celebration of Life will follow at the Crown Palace Banquet Hall at 201 - 12025 Nordel Way, Surrey from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to S.T.E.P.S, which can be found on the Vancity website www.vancitycommunityfoundation.ca. A late post but wanted to say how sorry I am about Jason's passing. My times spent with him and the rest of my friends from the Royal Heights area in our youth will always remain special in my heart. Sincerest condolences . Even though Jason was introduced to me through my husband Steve Teljeur only 3 years ago he immediatly acted like he knew me forever and I found his genuiness heart warming. Steve and I enjoyed his impromtu visits and his stories of close calls had me in awe. I can't say I truly knew Jason, not the way my husband does and his close friends and family .I only knew what he shared with me during the short moments we had together on our front porch during his visits . I can say that during those visits he showed us photos of his family and when he looked at each one he had light in his eyes. He had remorse in his eyes .He spoke proudly of his children and did't say an unkind word about anyone. I hope you all find some small piece of comfort & peace knowing this.

My heart was so broken at the news about our dear Jason. Our hearts were endeared to Him and Deb when they shared their love and care for us with the passing of our son Chuck and later my husband Ken. Jason and Chuck started Grade 1 together and remained deeply connected through the years. Good times or hard times their friendship was always important and solid. Today they are with JESUS. Their chains are gone, they've been set free - all because of God's Amazing Grace. Will always remember you Jason, till we meet again.
