Carencro - Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at a Time Pending Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Carencro for Jason Gerard "JJ" Senegal, age 61.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Ronald, pastor of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Jason Gerard Senegal was born January 6, 1957 to the late Joseph Walter Senegal and Mary Sadie Andrus Senegal in Lafayette, Louisiana. He departed this life peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 in Carencro. Jason will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Jason was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Carencro for the majority of his life. In his formative years, he attended Our Lady of Assumption Catholic School and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1975 at Holy Rosary Institute. Upon graduation, Jason received a degree in Political Science at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a Master's Degree in Political Science from Southern University and A&M College. In 1991, Jason obtained a Juris Doctorate Degree from the prestigious Southern University Law Center. He was a passionate and successful attorney who was employed with Acadiana Legal Services for almost thirty years. Jason was an honorable and righteous advocate of Lady Justice who fought and stood up for all. Jason lived and practiced by the words of the late Eleanor Roosevelt, "Justice cannot be for one side alone but must be for both."

Jason was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette. He loved the Lord and loved his family with all of his heart. He especially adored his beautiful daughter Ashlin and was very proud of her. Jason never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. In his pastime, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses, the outdoors, cooking outside but especially bar-b-quing.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Cynthia Caillet Senegal; his beautiful daughter Ashlin Senegal; his mother Mary Sadie Andrus Senegal; one sister, Stella Senegal all of Carencro; three special aunts, Mayola Peltier of Carencro, LA, Helen Comeaux, Elsaida Draine and her husband, Roosevelt, of Kansas City, Missouri; six uncles, Delton Peltier and his wife, Marjorie; Huey Peltier, Cleo Peltier and his wife Uganda, Clifford Peltier and his wife Karen, all of Kansas City, Missouri; Glen Peltier and his wife, Charlene, of Houston, Texas, Richard Caillet and his wife, Elizabeth, and Helen Caillet Comeaux of Rayne, Louisiana; and two Godchildren, Rakaela Clement and Trevis Senegal; and a host of cousins and friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Walter Senegal; his paternal grandmother, Modest Martin; his maternal grandmother Cecelia Peltier; his parents-in-law, Lee Caillet and Louise Bello Caillet; three uncles, Rosaire Peltier, Dojie Peltier, and Omar Peltier.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Richard Caillet, Jr., Gabriel Clement, Martin Hebert, Danny Peltier, Kenneth Peltier, Allen Sampay, Terrence Senegal and Paul Sinegal. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Arceneaux, Raymond Bergeron, Joseph Richard Caillet, Sr., Anthony V. Catalon, Ross Cockrell, Roosevelt Draine, Archie Joseph, Larry Lemelle, Larry Marks, Delta Peltier, Alfred Sinegal, Peter Sinegal and Harold Landor.
