Jason Spiotta Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2015.
Boiceville- Jason Spiotta, 45, of Cold Brook Road died suddenly Thursday, August 20, 2015 in Kingston, NY. Jason was born October 30, 1969 in Montclair, NJ, the son of John and Antoinette Spiotta. He graduated Montclair Kimberley Academy and holds a degree from Western Maryland College. Jason met his wife Elizabethanne at the Wholesomes Bagel House in Clinton, NJ, a small restaurant he owned with his brother. A distinguished running back at Montclair, Jason never lost his love of sports, first coaching baseball, before volunteering to coach youth soccer in Shandaken; Jason instilled his love of the NY Giants in his three sons. In 2005 Jason and his business partner, Todd Koelmel, launched their start-up solar energy business, SOLARgeneration. With his solar business, Jason was active both locally and globally, working to bring renewable energy to our community--from Zen Mountain Monastery in Mount Tremper, to Sunflower Natural Foods in Woodstock. In 2011, Solargeneration worked with a nonprofit organization in Tibet to install solar panels bringing light to monasteries and small villages in the mountains of Tibet. When he returned, Jason shared the joy he experienced interacting with the people of Tibet. Whether in the Himalayas or the Catskills, Jason enjoyed the beauty of nature; he relished such activities as hiking, camping, and downhill skiing. Jason's appreciation for natural beauty pervaded all aspects of his life. He was an artist who painted with watercolors, a ceramicist throwing clay, and a poet who wove together words with skill and talent. He loved his family, and was a true and loyal friend. He shared his life and love with his family freely, heart forward. He enjoyed music, and the lyrics of the James Taylor song, Secrets of Life, seem to sum it all up..."The secret of love, is in opening up your heart." In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by his wife Elizabethanne Spiotta and his three sons, Jakson, Che, and Cosimo, by his brother and sister in law, Marc and Melissa Spiotta of Morristown, and his sister and brother in law, Joy and Dave Spiotta-Larkey of Bloomfield, his four nieces, his mother-in-law Elizabeth Beaugard of NJ, and his sister-in-law Jenniferjane Cortes of Long Island, as well as his step-mother, Cathie Spiotta. A cremation service honoring Jason will take place on Monday at 9:30 am at the Wiltwyck Cemetery 145 Pine Grove Ave. Kingston. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that you find a personal memorial action of your choice, one that you think would continue to celebrate and pay-forward the spirit of Jason's love and compassion. Condolence notes are welcomed to be sent to the family at the house address. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Jason. I was a childhood friend and have vivid memories of playing football at Sunset park with him. His smile was contagious then, and I'm sure it was exactly the same later in life.
Please accept our deepest condolences.
