Jason Vande Voort Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2024.
Jason Cortez Vande Voort,14, of Rochester Hills, Michigan passed away on Tuesday July 23, 2024, at Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan.

Jason leaves to cherish his memory his mother Tabbi Vande Voort, mother Deanna Gambino, father Jason Robertson Sr., step mother Faye Robertson, siblings Tyler Vande Voort, Avery Vande Voort, Marcus Robinson, Jace Robertson, Davion McFerrin, best friends Keegan, Dre, Jonathan & Natalie, Aunt Dominique Gambino, Aunt Erica Naparalla, Aunt Elizabeth Hargan, Cousins Dominick Gorsline, Drake Withrow, Royce Withrow, Destiny Vande Voort, grandparents Joe and Dorothy Vande Voort and Sharon Downey and a host of aunts, uncles, and friends.

Jason loved getting together online with his boys to play Fortnite, hanging at McDonalds and the Village with his friends, music, traveling and his Jordan shoes. He had a passion for writing rap lyrics and creating his own beats, with the desire to record his own music in a studio one day. He loved being the center of attention, making people laugh and smile, and spending time with the ones that meant the world to him.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and support staff at Mott Children's Hospital who worked tirelessly to support Jason and keep him comfortable in his time of need.

A special thank you to Michelle & Si Simon, and Uncle Josh Vande Voort for fulfilling his need for speed by allowing him to experience fast drives on their Harley's.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jason to The Muscular Dystrophy Association.

A Candlelight Vigil for Jason will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at 8:30 pm outside the main entrance of Rochester High School.

Service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at 4:00 pm at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, located at 250 Fisher Ave, Pontiac MI 48341.

A celebration of Life is being planned for Jason, and updates will be posted to this memorial at a later date.

I knew Jason from his visits to the media center at West Middle School. While I was the teacher, Jason taught me to live life to its fullest. He was full of personality, had a great sense of humor, and never let his physical limitations hold him back from anything.

My heart goes out to Jason's family and friends, especially to his brother, Tyler, with whom he shared a unique bond.

I will always remember Jason´s devious little smile as he cruised down the hallways at West Middle School. When told to "slow down", he innocently complied, as we exchanged knowing smiles. My heart and love goes out to his family, in particular to Tyler who I also had the privilege of having. Trees were donated from many West staff members who knew and loved him, as well as a contribution to The Muscular Dystrophy Association. He will forever remain in our hearts.

While I didn't have Jason in class, I'll always remember him coming in and hanging out in my room just to see what was going on. Warmed my heart (and continues to do so to this day).

i wish i could share all the memories i have with jasons sweet soul, but i couldnt name them all as i met him in elementary school. everytime i think of jason i rember 3rd grade, everytime someone would try to say somthing and if jason didnt belive it he would make us say puppy three times, it was always a thing he did to us, i thought it was the funniest thing ever. jason really was one of my good friends in elementary and will always have a spot in my heart as i didnt really make friends easily.

I had Jason in my class several years ago, and the classes would line up in the cafeteria after lunch. We´d try to keep some order by playing games, and I played I Spy with them. "I spy something black." Jason shouted out, "Me!" He wasn´t the answer, but that was so clever, and definitely a favorite memory with him.

Popeyes, McDonald´s, Dollar tree, the bridge, middle school, the mall, copper fest. All the places me and Jason and other would hang out and talk or he´d talk about wanting to go to.

My favorite year teaching was the year Jason was in kindergarten. His impact was greater than he realized. His impact still lives (and will always live) in my heart as well as his classmates. The kids from that class who come back to visit, mostly talk or ask about him. His spunky personality and spirit drew everyone in, even at the age of 5. I am eternally grateful to know him and that he was a part of my life.

When he would have me order him food for lunch always chicken strips and fries and he´d always get mad at anyone who touched his food and he´d choose to just not eat it lol

Fourteen years ago the most adorable, cuddly, little boy entered our world. You immediately wrapped me around your little finger. The rest is history.

One of my funniest memories of you is when Mamma D gave us both a time out for whatever ridiculous thing we were doing. You were soooo mad at me!!

I love you so much, my Jay-Love. You will always be in my heart and I will think about you every day. Love you forever- Aunt Nikki

Jason man I´ll miss you so much . One thing I´ve learned from him is that you can be friends with absolutely anyone. He never let anything get in the way of his dreams, if he wanted to do something he most certainly would! Love you so much Jason
