Jason Albert Villarreal Jason Albert Villarreal of Austin was unexpectedly called home to his Lord Jesus Christ on April 7, 2013, his forty-first birthday. Jason was born in Dallas on April 7, 1972 and attended preparatory school at St. Mark's School of Texas. Jason was a loyal Marksman, proud to be one of few to attend the school through all twelve years. He ventured north to attend college at Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania, where he quickly became known as "Tex" and was a campus leader as a brother in the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and a member of the lacrosse and soccer teams. Jason attended graduate school in business management studies at Harvard University. In 1995, Jason moved to Austin, where he met his loving wife Kelli Cartwright Villarreal. The couple married in Austin in 1999, enjoyed living in Boston for five years, then returned to Austin to start their family. Jason is survived by Kelli, his beloved children Jacob and Morgan, and his parents Albert and Phoebe Villarreal. In his professional career, Jason was a passionate student and practitioner of modern corporate strategy, sales and marketing, and he enjoyed success at companies such as Boston Consulting Group, Capital CDC, National Instruments and Newgistics. Jason is missed by his family and his countless friends, because he cared in a deep and simple way about the people who came into his life. His friends will always remember him as one of the most kind and gentle souls to ever walk the earth. Jason was faithful, as a steadfast husband, son and friend. Jason was dedicated, as a Christian and as a provider. Jason was proud, but of his family and friends rather than of himself. Jason was honest, authentic and sensitive, hurting when his friends hurt and celebrating when his friends celebrated. Jason was gentle, naturally moving toward those who needed encouragement or comfort. Jason was passionate, an exuberant lover of his God, his family, sports, travel, music, roller coasters and all other fun things in life. Jason was happy, with an infectious laugh and a willingness to be silly, even very silly, when fun times required it. To describe Jason as a "sports enthusiast" would be a regrettable understatement. From his earliest years, Jason was absolutely enthralled by sports, be it as a fan, a player, a triathlete, a coach or most recently as the whole-hearted and supportive sports mentor to Jacob and Morgan. Jason lived his life and loved his fellow souls very well. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, TX. Services will be held at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Austin on Friday, April 12 at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to APTF/Strickland Christian School at P.O. Box 151841, Austin, Texas 78715 specified in memory of Jason Villarreal.

Kelli and Family,

Your family is in our prayers. I knew Jason for a brief time but was very fortunate to have met him. We played basketball a few times together and it was a pleasure to watch him coach Jacob for a couple of basketball seasons. God Bless you and your family.

Dear Kelli and Family,
Jason was very dear to us at HGSE. I will remenber his humor, his kindness and his chonicle of his love for the outdoors, how much he loved spending time with the kids, his public service work and the love he expressed for you Kelli. I appreciated his work, his honesty and his compassion. I will miss him. Take care Kelli- you have family and friends who will stand by you.
