I first met Jasper when I worked at the Harvard Bookstore cafe in the early 80,s.
Always the gentlemen in our working relationship. When I came to Jaspers in
the North End to bring a sick friend he treated us like royalty with his famous
pan sauteed chervil lobster. His legacy as the master of New England seafood
is only surpassed by him as a person. Rest in peace my friend.

Jasper was in my heart from the very beginning of his work bringing New England seafood to the world. Living in NH, couldn´t not know of him...so very best pleased I paid attention! Just now, watching an episode of "Julia Childs with Master Chefs"...I was pleased to have the company of the 2 great Boston food-folks for a wee bit. He did the most gorgeous fish-chowdah & pan-roasted lobster...of course! Decided to check his "bio" & am so sad to learn of his recent passing. The world has lost a great & good man...Rest well, dear Jasper White.

So sad to hear of the passing of Jasper. I cherish watching the Kids' hockey games with him. I remember when one of the players got hurt and he carried him out of the rink as though he was light as a feather. We think of you every time we go to the Summer Shack. My condolences to Jasper's family.

I loved him he was such a good friend to my pal Andy Moes and when Andy passed he opened up his restaurant in Cambridge. Such a loss as he was a wonderful human being.

Just after the James Beard award in 1991 when I had a restaurant in Halifax Nova Scotia my team had the idea to invite Jasper to visit us as a guest chef in support of a newly founded hospice program at our local hospital. I told them a reply at all was unlikely let alone what happened. Jasper readily agreed, flew up at his own expense, and prepared two exceptional seatings. Virtually all of the ingredients he wanted for the menu were local. Friends dropped foraged mushrooms to the back door, lobsters from a local crew. My wife and I were later hosted at Jasper's on a trip to Boston. Jasper treated our staff of young, homegrown Maritime chefs as if they were CIA alums, an affirmation which stayed with them throughout their careers. He was a wonderful, giving man and we offer condolences to the family.

Jasper and I met at CVS Fresh Pond where I worked. We became good buddies. My husband and I enjoyed many evenings at the Summer Shack and if Jasper was in the house he would come and sit with us, share a story and often send us a treat. He called me his CVS girl. It was amazing to see him transform with his weight loss. A truly amazing chef, a great buddy and I will miss him always. RIP Jasper! Love Donna C. Adams
