Jay's Dear Ones:

A love for life, honest, and always a smile, I've known Jay since 1970. We made a pact: if were weren't married by 50, we would marry each other. You always had to be first! See you on the other side.

Thank you for sharing Jay with everyone.

It was sad news to discover Jay´s passing. He and his contemporaries made WNEM TV5 the best in the business. Jay was a reporter you immediately trusted and always enjoyed hearing him laugh. His time at WNEM will always be known as the Golden Years to me.
Our deepest condolences to Jay´s loved ones, family, friends, and professional friends. He will be missed.

My mom would cook a great meal that I would take to the station and spend time with him at WRIF. We ate while he did his broadcast. We spent time together at his moms house in bay city hanging out in the basement looking at junk. Jay was a special friend. We had a lot in common. I remember the great discussions we had on my front pouch in Keego Harbor. I cherish the file he sent me of "the captains chair" prior to having it published. I miss Jay. Rest In Peace brother

Jay was a life long friend, a truly great guy. He got me over being nervous in front of a camera with all the interviews he did with me at Mulligans. I will really miss our conversations and sly smile.

Very sad news. I enjoyed all of my time with Jay. He was interesting and funny. I'm going to pour a large single-malt, re-read "The Captains Chair," and remember a great guy. R.I.P. my friend. You made a difference.

Jay was a friend of my son, Mark, and a neighbor in the McKinley/Birney street area on the city's East side in the 1960's.
He was a frequent visitor and a tag-a-long with his brother, Mark. He was a good kid and always asked a lot of questions about everything.
He especially had an interest in the Civil War sword that I had and would like to handle it and to ask its history.
We haven't seen much of him since our families have moved on but he was a Facebook friend. Jay left us much too early, but the memories that we hold in our hearts will endure forever.
Our condolences to the Brandow family.

Jay was a great friend for many years. Spend hours with him while he recorded his radio shows on a reel to reel, in rehearsal for his career choice and played along on his guitar. He was destined for the life he lived. A great smile and a unique laugh. He will be missed by many. RIP my friend
