It's been a year and I still can't accept that Jay is gone. Such a senseless death for such a vibrant human. Thank you all for your lovely comments. It means a lot to know he touched your lives. Much love.

Was watching some Led Zeppelin on YouTube today.... couldn't help but think about you Jay.
You introduced me to all the early Led stuff.
Jay, you were one-of-a-kind. Your heart was pure.
You made life more fun.........always.
Can't even count how many road hockey games I had with you since I was 5 years old.
Every day at his house it seemed.
Such fond memories! Ice hockey too. Some crazy times! Just the way it was back then.
Jay, you were a huge part of my childhood. You are missed by me and many, that I am sure.
Bless you, hope you are making them all laugh up there.

Jay bought the glass for his doors from our shop for the last 3 years. He was such an nice guy - so friendly and happy all the time. He was so proud of the beautiful woodwork he produced - such a talented craftsman! Farewell Jay...

We were so sorry to hear about Jay, he was such a great guy. Built 2 awesome sets of stairs for us and I'll always remember him and i driving back from the west coast indulging our fanatical love of Pink Floyd by singing along at the top of voices! A great man with a great spirit.

To My Buddy Jay
We first met at PVI in the early 80's doing our apprentiseship. Later we both worked together at BC Tel for 18 years. We were a team and had a great time working in the shop, out of town, doing side jobs or just helping eachother out at our homes. I will miss the jokes and your humor. You had a nickname for almost everyone. Would love to hear The Egg again when I would phone you. So sorry we never got out together on your boat for that day of fishing, we talked about. Miss you Jay Man. Barry

Other tributes have mentioned Jay's sense of humour. How could they not? It seems like he cheered & inspired many! When I re-encountered Suzanne at a Gab library SRC event, it was no surprise to learn Jay was the guy in the whale costume at The Kerplunks show! Suzanne, Sarah, Carla, my thoughts are with you all.

I worked with Jay when he was at the BCTel carpentry shop in Burnaby. I did planning for Phone stores and Jay built them. I always appreciated his positive attitude, sense of humour and suggestions for improvements (always spot on)! He also made me some great croquet mallets. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Jay was a great guy, who will be remembered for his wit and teasing personality (especially with his daughters). We will share his memory with his grandchildren so that they will know what a wonderful grandpa they had, who was taken far too young. May those same memories help Suzanne and family through these difficult days.

So sad to say goodbye to such a great guy. Always so happy, with that twinkle in his eye. I knew him from Grade 8, through Grade 12. My heart goes out to his family. Rest In Peace Jay, and it will be of some comfort to your family, to know you will be watching over them.
