Papa, you taught me so many wonderful things and the three that fill my heart with joy are 1) learning how to build a wooden box around a box around a box around a Christmas present that we could then give to Mom; 2) learning how much fun it is to be thrown from a deck into the snow; and 3) learning to sled... I love you very much and will miss you. Love, Katie

We met Lucy and Jay at the Country Table Restaurant and Bar. We were always in the bar dancing and singing. From the time I met him he always gave me a hug and kiss because he liked the women and also because he liked to tease my husband John. He will be missed.
Love,
Cindy

jay will be missed by all!
We met Jay back in 1973. We were neighbors in New Castle. Our daughter Missy was born that year. We shared a duplex with Dori and Rudy. Our memories of Jay, Alice, Dana, John, Dave, and young Doug always bring a smile to our face. I remember Jay asking for a hair cut on our front porch. He took his chances with scissors in my hand!

I met Jay and Lucille about 20 years ago through dancing.
Jay made everyone feel happy. He had a contagious smile. It took a while before he ever danced with me. But he never missed a hug and big hello.
Like Jay I am from Kentucky.

Hi,
I'm Janet Bailey, my dancing friends call me the Candy Lady. I always have a basket of candy and Jay always looked for the Mr Good Bars. It's my favorite too. I'll remember him when I enjoy my Mr Good Bars.
He was Mr Good!

My remembrance of Jay was his gracious collecting the dance fee when Ja and Terry played at the Clarion. That was a big job that later was assumed by Lucille.

My condolences to the family. I worked at the Alta Post Office for many years and so I got to know both Jay and Alice. I saw him occasionally after he moved and I was happy that he picked up his life and kept going. He was one of the few left from the "Greatest Generation", I am sure he will be missed, but what a legacy he left for his family.

Papa, thank you for teaching me the following:
How to sled (not much opportunity for that in Texas)
That it is smart to test the strength of an iced over pond with rocks, before walking on it.
That a pool table is a perfectly acceptable bed for a child.
We love you very much and you will be missed.

Uncle Jay....you will be missed. You are the last of your generation and perhaps the best example of a gritty, hardworking, never give up generation. You did not have much formal education but still had the drive and "can do" attitude necessary to be successful and provide a good home for your family. I will always treasure the memories I have of you from building a boat in your basement (then tearing the stairs and doors out to remove it), visiting with you many times and the lengthy conversations and reminiscing.

Jay,
I'll miss ya, Buddy. I learned a lot from you about "just gittin' it done". Thanks.
Dana, Lucille and the Rest of Jay's Clan,
I don't need to tell you how proud he was and how much he loved you all, but I will anyhow - he was and he did.
