Jay was always a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day

Jay was one of the good guys. He was a loyal friend, a talented musician, and extremely intelligent. For 6 years, we played on school and church orchestras, sang in several choirs, and together wrote the high school musical. Many of us from his youthful years will always remember him.

It seems just like yesterday that I was creating drink menus for the Rheinhaus and named one the Holtzapple, Tom and Jay were frequent customers and Tom also a great waiter. You are in my thoughts and prayers always.

To Tom and jays friends and family, I was sad to read of his passing, I have fond memories of the both of you at the Rheinhaus, listening to your group play and just being entertained by you. He will always be remembered. Eugene Baryngton at [email protected]

To Jays friends and family, I send my condolences. Jay and I attended the same church, sang together and played in orchestras from 7th grade till 12th grade. His classmates at William Penn Sr. High School respected him and his talents. He was a good friend. To his life partner, I especially wish to give my deepest sympathy. Joie Schlegel Stump

I worked with Jay at Walker Library for several years, and he was one of the nicest guys in the world. So sorry to hear of his passing.
